    handheld vs fixed mount VHF

unless your on a large body of water, not many will have their radios on. here in the PNW, most use VHF on the ocean, but not on lakes/rivers (except the Columbia River which is very tidal and has lots of commercial traffic).

    1978 22' V5 Super Sport CC

I am planning on using the same method for my build (using a 4pd sledge) so I am happy to hear it worked for you. I think Riveting is a trail and error kind of thing when you start out, so keep at it and learn what works best for you.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Took the boat off the trailer to replace the rollers, adding new bunks and getting it painted (well rattle canned one color). The trailer will be white when complete. FYI there’s a tire under the front of the boat, I put the box there as kind of a cushion as I knew it would collapse.

I was using an engine hoist and some lifting eyebolts, I was actually lifting the boat off the trailer. I am going to try to use a long flat blade to see if I can separate the wood from the aluminum. well see if that works.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

still working on getting the transom out, I may resort to cutting it up depending on how things progress as it currently doesn't want to budge (transom drains, stern eyes, bolts and everything have been removed). This weekend I am going to pull the boat off the trailer regardless if the...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Good morning, yes, I am looking forward to getting her all cleaned up. I was thinking it was going to be much dirtier (from my previous experience doing rebuilds like this) but it was pretty clean after being out in the open for 13 years. I haven't figured out a plan around the implementation...

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

I would look for a stainless one, I know sea dog (I think is the name but may be wrong) has some stainless ones. I intend to use a stainless steel one on my Mariner after I add a new drain at the bottom and behind the transom support.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Busy day today, removed the sole and the center console from the boat. aside from the one surprise I am happy with the condition of the hull. My next steps are: 1. Remove the main motor and remove the spashwell to get access to the transom for replacement. Remove the transom. 2. Figure out...
