Why do you want a bigger boat? ie, what will you use it for, what kind of water, how far will you trailer it?
If you are looking for a large alum boat, check out Marinette's.

Sorry to hear of the medical issues, hopefully it works out.
As for the boat, even though I/we have had a number of larger boats, my favorite is still an old Blue Fin 14' fishing boat w/15 hp OMC. Plain, simple, easy to use, always started well.
I suspect you will really like this new motor but,
how does one run a motor at full throttle for 3 hrs and not use any fuel. :)
"I only used the boat for 3 hrs full throttle and still have a full tank of gas."
We have the same motor on our SS16, IMO, it's the perfect motor for this size boat. I've been in a SC 16 fishing boat that uses the same hull, it had the old 4 cyl 50 hp Merc - too small.
Try it 1st before you make any decisions.
This is bad news.
Lubrication - did you use any cam/lifter lube during assembly? And did you use oil that has the additives in for flat lifters, I've "heard" that the new oils do not.
And depending on the damage, I tend to like to rebuild what I have, of course if there are a lot of junk parts...
Sorry, I'm getting owners/boats mixed up, you must have a V5 to have the 240 rating. Then as much a twin towers would be fun, a single V6 makes lot more sense (to me). Though twin 115's would be great. (depending on year, that boat was probably(?) from the powerhead rating time, and the late...
exactly 240??? why?? especially when your boat is rated for 150.
but they did have 115's and 125's (I think) for a while. But the 150's would be a lot more fun. if you're sticking with Tower's, the later 115's would be better, integral trim and no distributor.
Twin Towers, at 150 powerhead each, and about 280 ish lbs each.
"or realistic twin engine combo) from the 70s?"
With that said, a 150 4 stroke would probably be fine, but pricey.
If it were me, (and it's not) I'd be looking for a Merc Black Max V6, a bit lighter in weight and plenty of...
