    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Or not, yours is a V5, and that may be why the difference. I do agree this is interesting. I do have a '79 SUS V5 22' O/B that is rated at 240, but again, a V5. I am curious about the year, this plate matches the '78/'79 plates, a '77 plate is different. With this said, odd things do/did...

How much motor are you looking for? I see a '98 115 OMC in Elk River and a '84 185 OMC in Hudson.

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

Ya, the Marinette's are a whole nother class of boat. If I was on big water that's what I'd probably have.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Nate, you should get the 15 ft'er to go with your longer one.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Ironically, a 1972 Nova showed up on the local FB page, also with smooth sides, but being a 15 ft'er, it doesn't have the braces. I wonder if the owner is a member here.

    1972 Starcraft Nova

Sharp eyes Waterman, When have you 1st seen the braces (which year)? How sure are we that this is a '72? Do we know the S/N? This is interesting.

Dont know how to sell starcraft 1974

I just sold (unloaded) a mid 70's glass w/115 Merc, I was lucky to get $300 for it. I have another, a mid 80's glass, that will likely get scrapped, no motor and needs a floor and transom. Here, MN, old glass usually goes to the scrap yard, unless it's of interest to someone in a local...

Dont know how to sell starcraft 1974

The 1st question - is it aluminum or glass? If alum it has "some" value. If glass not much.

I would avoid anything dark in a boat, those surfaces will get very hot.

    1987 Islander

Years ago our neighbor at the cabin had a SS18 with a 120 or 140 4 cylinder - it wasn't very impressive as a speed demon. A 18/20 or 22 with a 4.3 would be a bit more "spritely". A few years ago I passed on a 20 or 22 with a 350 Chev. I probably should have gotten it.

    1987 Islander

I've been watching one listed here, if it had a 4.3 I'd be much more interested. In my case, I really want an SS, and would convert it, so I keep looking, hoping for a 20-22 SS.

What is this? All i know is starcraft...

Excellent - and that side marking makes this one a '81 also, with a '83 banded Merc. It just showed up on fb in our neighborhood FS.

What is this? All i know is starcraft...

Nobody else has jumped in so... based on the few catalogs I see in the sticky's, I'd guess your '81 is pretty close. In looking at the '77, 79 and 80, the glass boats show hints of yours and the side decorations are also showing hints, by 86 the side decoration is past. You might try to find...

First Starcraft, 16'-1" Mariner V with '79 Evinrude 35hp Seahorse

That is a strange S/N. I have been "collecting" Starcraft S/N's for a while, just to help determine the build year. To date, all but 1 have been 6 digit numbers. (the 7 digit is a 1 million number from 1972) However, if I ignore the 6 at the left, then the number, 925849, fits in the other...

Starcraft 16' Bahama Fiberglass vs. Starcraft 16' Starmist Aluminum

I'd pass on both of them. As has been stated, glass in general is heavier and requires more maintenance then aluminum. It's hard to beat the SS 16, and there are so many out there. Dan

Model name of 15 ft Runabout?

What are your wife's boat handling capabilities? Both on the water and on the trailer? How many friends do you envision her taking out? How portable does it have to be, ie: do you live on a piece of water? How much motor can she handle? The SS 16 is a good option and is very common And...

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

Lately I've been thinking about twin I6 tower 115's on a 18-20 ft'er. Just cause.

Nice boat, I agree the 70 might be a bit under powered. I can't help with recommendations, other then I'd lean Merc, and a 4 stroke is a must.
