    Battery Switch

According to the battery engineers I know, your battery or batteries for your trolling motor should be deep cycle and preferably charged from a deep cycle charger, not charged from your outboard motor charging system for best performance and longest life. The start only battery will recover...

    Battery Switch

Starting batteries typically control anything that pertains to the motor, including the trim and tilt. Anything not pertaining to the motor is on the house battery. Trolling motors should have their own dedicated batteries. How big is your boat, motor and trolling motor. The size and draw on...

The few folks that I know, that tried the polishing route, regretted doing it ! The glare off the hull and water was unbearable.....and the up keep was worse !

Looking for a service manual for a 95 Mercury 40hp

My last three manuals off EBay were 15 bucks for my small Merc 2.2, paid 35 bucks for my Mercuruiser manual and 20 bucks for my 40 to manual. Money very well spent considering how much those manuals helped !

    Bilge blower question

Your lucky that yours is offset to the side a little, mine is directly in front of the motor, making it a real pain to fillup. No idea why they mounted it in such an awkward place !!

Starting your car in this cold weather.

With all the apps and other computer controlled gizmos on new cars, while it might be fun......Chrysler has already had issues with hackers using these to steal your vehicle ! Be careful what we wish for !

    Bilge blower question

Would have to have a leak in the fuel tank, being built-in would require a deck fill cap. Unless they really get sloppy when filling he should be good.

    Keel rollers?

Good set of side guides, adjusted properly will prevent the scraping as well by keeping the boat centered at all times. Loading depth is also critical as you have discovered.

    Bilge blower question

Then no need for a blower.

    Bilge blower question

The big question is....can fumes get trapped in those areas or is there air circulation ?

    Keel rollers?

As an aluminum only boat owner, I use all the rollers I can to support the hull. My last two trailers gave been all roller trailers, no bunks. If the roller is causing damage to the keel or hull, then you don't have enough rollers ! I can see where fiberglass hulls might have a different...

Does winter cause odd purchases ?

Ah...fond memories....had one in my youth, a 15' with a 30 hp Johnson. Looked just like your pic !!! Wish I still had it ! Many of us make odd purchases in the winter from being bored and just wanting something to do, guilty of that myself ! Boating season can't come soon enough !

Yep, I am one that jumped to the tail fin, did not read deep enough to realize he was talking about a different animal.

    Bilge blower question

Don't recall seeing an outboard with a closed area for fuel and battery. If they do, then common sense should dictate a venelation system of some sort. All my out boards have had a perforated wall to allow air to circulate freely so no fumes can gather.

    STAINLESS OR NOT

In my 60 plus years of boating, I can count on one hand the number of aluminum props I have damaged. While some can, I could never justify the cost of a SS prop for an extra 1-2 mph. In my younger days, working at the boat shop, most of our lower unit repairs came from outboards that had SS...
