    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Found the problem with the engine. I had the firing order backward. And it RAN THAT WAY as long as it backfired while starting to make it rotate the other direction. Crazy, huh? Never ran hot, either. I put it right and it fires right up, now.

All I accomplished last evening was to siphon off about fifteen gallons of rainwater from the bow section of my cover so I could properly tension it for more rain that was on the way. Hoping to dry new plugs tonight. Hoping that gets it going again.

I bought an adjustable spark tester on my way home last evening and it showed me that I have GREAT spark from the ignition all the way to the ends of the wires. I tried to start it, but still no joy. I pulled the plugs, and they are carbon-fouled. They still spark, but the spark jumps around...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

It has style and character. It doesn't look like something that was cobbled together in someone's driveway. What did you use for the rounded corners on the lower portion?

This weekend I had a list of stuff to get done so that I can launch NEXT weekend. That started out well, but went off the rails. Looks like I will be working on it through the week to meet that goal. I refinished the used prop that I bought to start off with. The prop itself is in great...

Another milestone: I put gas in the tank. So far so good.

Go to the link I posted and check their product line. They make a Fire Resistant version. The stuff I have is general purpose. The foil is a vapor barrier. I think it will do fine. There is a similar product in the doghouse over my motorhome engine, and that 440 V8 gets HOT. The fiberglass...

It's a 1/2" foam with heavy foil on both sides. The other side had printing on it. Got it from Lowe's. I glued it in with Power Grab construction adhesive. We'll see how it does. https://www.rmax.com/r-matte-plus-3

I'm getting close to splash time. Trying not to forget anything. I still need to gas it up, add water, run it and make any final adjustments. I also need to make sure I have all of the STUFF on board that I will need. I will probably set up my bow line and dock lines in the driveway...

1992 Malibu Sunsetter Euro F3 rebuild seeking advice

Odds are that your new transom piece will be bowed a bit. Use that to your advantage when clamping/pressing into place. For example, if the center hits and the ends are bowed inward, there may be no need to clamp the middle because clamping the ends will create pressure in the middle. Or...

iBOATS of course. ;) It's a Sierra kit # MP41400 Comes with the 200° temp switch, a 6psi oil pressure switch, and the buzzer. You have to add a T fitting for the oil switch and whatever else. You may have the wires already. Mine were bullet connectors near the temp sender and oil pressure...

Chipping away at my checklist. Skeggard is installed. Bimini top is installed. My boat never had an overtemp or low oil pressure alarm, but it did have the circuit in the harness. I bought a kit that had the switches and buzzer. I just needed to do the plumbing. Temp switch and buzzer...

I plan to clean up the prop, but should I leave it bare aluminum, or should I paint or coat it with something?

Last night I installed the outdrive. A little wiggling and shoving is all it took. I tossed a prop on it to complete the look and took some photos of this milestone moment. Or should I say channel marker moment? My Skeggard arrived, so I checked it against the skeg and could see that mine is...

I pulled the boat around to the garage and washed the pollen off. I made a brief walk around video while there was still daylight.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

No special bearing puller needed at this time. Just drive it out from the engine side. I think I drove my new one in with a slide hammer rig. Or was it a long bolt used to PULL it in? Meh. The point is that you don't exactly need special tools if the housing is off the boat.

I've finished up the outdrive. The manual says to use nothing on the water tube gaskets, and to use gasket sealant on the two o-rings and carrier that they are on to prevent oxidation, but since mine is freshwater only, I went with a light smear of grease on all. Went together great...

Question that I cannot find an answer to: When mating the OMC Cobra upper to the lower, should I put anything on the o-rings and water passage seals? Everything else calls for gasket sealant, but I was thinking grease on these? It doesn't call for anything in the Seloc manual, and I can't...
