    Keep in mind that the hinge will bear much of the weight. You will never actually lift the entire weight once it is installed and hinged. Maybe half when you first start lifting, and lighter as the hinge takes more and more.

    Like they said. Just be sure to save the serial plate from your engine so you can look up your OMC parts in the future. Screw it to your new engine somewhere. You'll still need that number. I wish the previous owner of my boat had done that.

    Not familiar with that, but PVC sheet from a home improvement store is a good option. You can bow it over something and apply heat from a heat gun to help it hold a curve. Waterproof and staple-friendly.

    Just make sure that the plywood you use is rated for exterior use. If the bond between layers is not waterproof, it won't work for your application.
