    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

I got all of my bow plywood made. The two larger seat bottoms are doubled up where the cut-outs are in the fiberglass, making them 3/4" thick in those areas. The rest is 3/8". Water, pressure and patience finally got the curved pieces extremely close to their final shape. They actually end...

Those are great ideas, for sure! Here's what I did today. After a few hours, I was able to add more spacers. If this doesn't give good results. I'll kerf cut the foam side.

Thought about kerf cuts with a layer of CSM, but that would get hard to staple to. Was trying to think of a coating that would soak in and dry to hold the curve. You may be onto something. I'm going to try the traditional method first and go from there.

Thought of that, but no thin ply around here with exterior rating. Otherwise that would be a great way to curve out on a short amount of time.

I would love to use PVC sheet, but the closest retail store I can find it at is two hours away and two hours back. It's up to $79 now. I tried some online sellers, but the shipping puts them at double that amount. One of the few down sides to living in the middle of nowhere. I think I will...

Is it wise to overbend a little, or just get it close?

Here are a few pictures of it that I took today. I temporarily used the strap to hold it openTo show how much access it gives me.

Fuel line height, fitting access, etc all matters. I sent you the regs so that you can read up and bring your system up to date. The rubber line that is there now is not rated for ethanol fuels, for example. The regs explain the type ratings to help you select the right replacement hose...

Made some progress on the engine enclosure. Still need to insulate the inside, add a limiting strap, a prop of some sort, bulkheads on the sides for it to mate up to, and so on. For now, it is covered and installed. It lifts and hinges nicely. When the enclosure is up, i will have...

I used ratchet straps to pull my hull to dimension across the beam, also. I was meticulous to keep it at the recorded widths, but in the end, it still came out a bit wide when I released the tension. So if yours has any amount of tension holding the sides, the sides may be curving like a bow...

When I hinge this puppy up, it'll be like there is no enclosure at all. Seat and steps will raise with it. It's really light, yet strong due to the facets. The hinge bears much of the weight, so a gas strut or two will make it almost effortess. Still not sure how I want to finish it...

More progress on the enclosure. Still making decisions as I go. I spent a good bit of time taking each joint back apart, adding adhesive, and screwing it all back together. This will be the shape I am going with. I still have trimming and shaping to do, by I ran out of light. I need to...

It was inevitable,; the afternoon family nap: Christmas Edition. That was my time to go work on the boat. I only had a couple hours at best, but I needed to feel a sense of accomplishment. I tossed the enclosure back on the bench and got after it. I added a panel and more corner bracing...
