Has anyone used the ready lime (not the brand name) to descale their outboard

I used the one that starts with an R on my diesels and inspected the heat exchanger before and after and it worked great. Diluted HCL would probably also work as does vinegar but I had it on hand from work and figured why not.

Tinkering on the 4.3l this winter...

So I've said it in the past just don't think I have it documented here. I have some go fast parts for the 4.3l I'll probably throw on this winter then in the spring document any improvements.... The parts I think will show the most improvement based on threads here are the 4 barrel carb and...

Relocating oil filter on a Mercruiser 5.7?

I did exactly that on my 4.3. Used off the shelf hydraulic hoses in a standard length to make things really easy and cheap. The 4.3l needs an oddball filter adapter for the block and that was the most expensive part of the whole process for me. There's thousands of options for a small block and...

    Rain needed

We were able to refill about 60 million gallons with last weeks rain. Drop in the bucket compared to the 170 million missing. DEP also changed allocation guidelines based on gauge flow. If there's more water you're allowed less but if there's less you're allowed more. Make it make sense.

    The End

I fogged and winterized last night. Long range is cold enough I'm done for now. I'll pull the engine and look for my leak so it'll float once more probably.

I imagine the salt content in the mix is enough to get sufficient protein extraction/binding? When I make sausage I never add binder or cure and use very little salt (dad had blood pressure issues always, so I was always light handed with salt) but still get a sufficient binded structure.... I...

Mercruiser 4.5 versus Chevy vortec Base 4.3

Rod length doesn't change the stroke. The crankshaft is a different stroke and I think the bore slightly too....

    Control replacement/update opinions

So I have a question... I went with the NFB setup and I have to say after a few months with it... I don't like it. It is very stiff and it feels like the NFB clutch sticks a lot so gentle corrections near center feel sticky. Is this normal of this system or is there possibly an issue with mine...

Winterizing a Merc A1-G1 Block Question Antifreeze

There should be a drain petcock on the block on the exhaust side and then one toward the rear underside of the manifold. Picture half a small block....

What's the best wood to use for stringers replacement.

3/4 exterior plywood is probably what it was built with. (I've seen from friends that OSB was used in cheap boats at the factory) So yes, you'd have to cut that shell, adhere the board or float it then glass up around and over it back to the hull.... I used a local lumber yard, told them what I...

Winterizing a Merc A1-G1 Block Question Antifreeze

FYI, some hoses have a drain plug and fitting on the circulating pump hose as well. Found that out when reassembling the cooling system with new parts. :)

The guy I follow for my breads was a baker. He gives pretty exact tutorials on how to make whatever it is you're making and so long as you follow it it more or less comes out exactly right. Everything has been perfect so far.

True. I will admit I've used mozzarella on it when I didn't have gruyere on hand but that's about it. Forgot I made the baguettes I used in the soup too.

What kind of psycho do you take me for? It got a little washed out by the lamp she had on the table. The whole color of the photo is actually off.

Got a new toy to test out eventually...

Sandisk ultra 128gb, nothing special. Edit: Micro SD. Yeah, they did a fusion back in august in his lower back to compliment the neck one from March. (Car accident 3 years ago). Doctor told him last month he could start doing light work again along with PT. He asked about the boat and he said...

Got a new toy to test out eventually...

Mirage. Got too late in the day to test the Enertia again. We winterized the 330 and temps started to plummet and while excited, he wanted to be done. Didn't want to hurt dad's back anymore either as it's still pretty tender from the surgery anyway. I would be curious what the Enertia looked...

Got a new toy to test out eventually...

So I finally got to see the boat for myself. Took video of how awesome it looked. And the card corrupted when I tried to load it to the computer. So basically what I saw... dad drops the hammer and the bow pops up until about 15 MPH when it comes on plane. Bow then comes right down then whole...

I'll go one step further. Meat that you grind yourself is probably fine. But typically that is what you want to be careful with. If the guidelines for the TDZ were really that important, I'd have died a long time ago. Proper cooking for the most part negates any issues. I wouldn't leave it there...
