    Restoring a 1990 Larson

You are about to eclipse me! Looking good. I'm trying to get the top layers of glass down on my deck this weekend too.

Opinions on shop's quoted Bravo 3 maintenance cost

Funny you mention 16mm. Tonight I am upgrading my Suburban tow vehicle to MPI fuel injection and needed a 16mm flare nut wrench for the fuel lines. I went looking through my tools and the only 16mm I have is one side of a double open ended wrench. I said a prayer and used it, and thankfully...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I poured foam under the decks tonight. Between the foam under the ski locker floor and all the spaces under the decks, two 16lb kits was the perfect amount. I set the heat pump for the garage on the max (86F) and had my wife turn the kerosene heater on full blast at 3:30pm this afternoon...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Yeah, I'm also slightly concerned about how much resin I'm using, but I guess it's too late on my project, as tonight I just finished my 25th gallon. Still, I'm planning on one layer of 1708 followed by one layer of CSM. I'm carpeting my interior, though. Gotta make my decision soon though...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Finished tabbing the deck perimeter tonight. I had my wife re-do her hand print on a piece of tabbing since her original one is now mostly covered up by the stringer and deck.

    Project with my sons

Yes, this is what I mean by shipping freight. You must have freight shipped to a place with a loading dock and a forklift. Thankfully my employer is letting me have my US Composites orders delivered to my work facility. If you don't have that option, you can do as you suggested and have it...

    Project with my sons

Regarding hazmat fees and US Composites - if you ship freight (when ordering 10+ gallons of resins, I'm pretty sure it's required) they do not charge the hazmat fee.

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

I'm all ears too...it hurts to throw those rollers away! If I'm doing a long day of layups, I find that while it may get a little gummy, the roller and brush can go for several hours by constantly being refreshed with the latest resin. If you stop for more than about 30 minutes though, it's...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

As much sewing as you've done, if the throwable ends up bothering you, just sew a cover for it out of the matching vinyl.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I spent most of the day doing indulging in my other boat related passion - whitewater canoeing. After getting home and unloading gear, there was still enough time to get down two layers of 1708 tabbing along the port side of the decking.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

All the decking is down, ski locker cleats installed, and 2 of the 8 compartments are foamed. I also disassembled my 2nd hand ski locker hatch I got on eBay and sent the planks through the planer. They went from looking like bones to looking like beautiful wood. Can't wait to see the finished...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I got the "rear" piece of decking down tonight. I'm trying to be ready to reinstall the cap on April 10. Not as soon as I'd hoped, but I'm trying to not completely ignore my family and other hobbies. My order of operations was: sanded gelcoat where the PB will go, cleaned everything with...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

Do you recommend doing this...going with an aluminum prop first to test before buying a SS prop?

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

QUESTION FOR THE EXPERTS: The seam around my hull where the cap sat had some kind of clear silicone sealant around it, along with most of the items attached to the outside of the transom (swim platform brackets, trim tabs, thru-hull exhaust pipes, etc.). See the pictures below for an example...

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

That is smoking. My best in my Civic is an 11.90 @ 120 in the 1/4. With a few small changes and more seat time I'm hoping to get down to 11.50's this season. Of course this is in a FWD 4-cylinder street car with AC, lol. Anyhow...very cool...back to boat building!

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Much respect! I'm nowhere near as fast and have half the cylinders, but racing is great fun, and the sport is full of great people.

You build race chassis? Tube welding is something I always wanted to get into. I've got the welder, just need a bender and a notcher. Do you still do anything with race cars? I do import 1/4 mile drag racing as a hobby.

    Larson SEI 180 Complete Rebuild

The gelcoat and the interior look great in the pictures. I may try to redo the gelcoat on my boat next winter - doing multiple colors with all the taping and untaping seems like a chore, and makes me a little nervous.
