Maybe my turn for new boat time

I'm pretty sure you need your own thread as well...

Automatic bilge pump, not being very automatic

Most (?) of the float switch types that I've seen allow you to manually lift the float by twisting the pivot, which lifts the float. Also, you may have carp trapped in the base keeping the float from floating. A float type pump can either have an integrated float or one separate from the pump.

When do you pull your freshwater boat?

Tough call for me since I started keeping it on a lift. Less concern for the temps, more for the storms. Huge pucker factor if a hurricane/tropical storm if projected and I'm not around for it.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

Knowing the switch works doesn't help with your problem. Issue would be switch staying closed when it shouldn't be. Need to check it installed and see if it's being pressed/sticking inappropriately.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

A lot of ways to check. Smoke machine on amazon, use propane/carb cleaner and spay around potential leaks (TB, intake hoses, etc) and see if engine speed changes.

    1989 Formula 26PC Twin Mercruiser 4.3LX, Alpha I, Gen 1 - Water Leak at/in Transom Assy

They have the anode on it. You can grab it with vice grips. If it's that corroded, the bolt will snap before the anode unscrews. The only thing keeping water out of there is a small gasket

It can come right through that bolt hole. Wiggle it from the outside. Tough/impossible to get to from the inside.

    1989 Formula 26PC Twin Mercruiser 4.3LX, Alpha I, Gen 1 - Water Leak at/in Transom Assy

The wye pipes can get pieces of the flapper lodged in them that wear a hole in it over time. Otherwise rotten transom if it isn't a boot. Easy enough to pull back your shifter boot. Transom or wye pipe, you're looking at pulling the engine either way. You can check to see if the transom shield...

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

Couldn't remember on this engine whether it was cylinder deactivation or complete engine cutoff when activated.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

Unapproved. That's your throttle cable adjustment, not made for adjusting idle. Almost sounds like your shift interrupt, but shouldn't cause it to idle rough. Tough to diagnose without a scan tool, but I'd check to make sure all cylinders are firing when it's idling rough.

    Mercruiser 5.0 MPI idling problem

Does it only stall when you're going into/out of gear? Is this an alpha or bravo?

I turn the key but nothing happens.

Check voltage at the yellow/red wire coming into the slave solenoid and at the ignition switch when you have key in start

Getting challenging to find somewhat common items?

I remember having to actually pick up a phone and call a ton of places to find parts for my VWs back in the day. And God help me when I had a Saab. Parts are infinitely easier to get now in most cases.

Mercruiser 5.7mpi horizon single cylinder burning lean

Are you sure it's firing? First step for me would be to put a noid light on it. Also need to make sure you're getting spark to that cylinder

Mercruiser 3.0 wants to die only at 1800 RPM

An impact screwdriver can work wonders, otherwise screw extractors/left handed bits might work. The screws aren't in very tight. Well, shouldn't be very tight.

    '04 Merc 25hp dead(ish) cylinder

Just to hopefully close this out... Got another DVA that read a bit better, and made the troubleshooting easy. Those stator readings were accurate. 300v on cylinder 1. Cylinder 2 would stay around 100v, where it made an inconsistent, weak spark. Enough to sometimes trigger the timing light and...

Electric boat maker shutters plant in WV

Anything outside of CA? Kind of, AFAIK they are all still essentially hybrid vehicles though (last I looked they still had good sized lithium batteries as well). And again, leased in CA only. Right now a better choice than electric, but still not the best long term solution imo. Everybody...
