Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

That is probably the first time I’ve ever seen anyone claim a Carlisle tire of any stripe is better than Maxxis.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

I alternated sides and I did not use PVA or wax or anything on the core.

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

If it were me, I'd keep running the old tires, making sure you have a couple of cheap spares handy, until the Endurance tires are in stock again. If I was going to shell out the cash for four tires at once, I'd want to be sure I was getting something decent...

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

If using Titebond, you only need to wait 24 hours. It does not off gas.

Not an issue with Titebond III. I believe you are thinking of PL Premium construction adhesive.

Replacement Tires for dual axle trailer?

I have had great luck with Goodyear Endurance tires. I’d wait for them or get Maxxis.

This is an excellent idea. You can also mix your resin with just a touch less catalyst to slow down the reaction, too.

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

^This! When I installed mine, I drilled some 3/8" relief holes in the transom core to allow any excess PB to splooge out and to better adhere the transom core (not everyone does this). I also did several dry runs to practice clamping the core to the boat before the clock was running with...

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

TiteBond III only. I clamped mine down, then screwed it together with drywall screws. After a day or so, I pulled the screws and filled the holes with peanut butter, then glassed the whole thing before installing it.

Same here, smallest first, then larger layers of tabbing. Two or three layers, probably doesn't matter much. Three certainly won't hurt. For the transom, you can put fiberglass and resin between layers of plywood, but using an waterproof adhesive like Titebond III will be just as good; when...

Water in 1995 Procraft with mercury engine

Did any of the wiring get wet? That would be a big concern, as you'd be likely to experience all sorts of emerging electrical issues as wires corrode inside their sheathing. That boat is a outboard, yes? That would at least rule out any problems with the engine.

    Ford F150 w/10 spd transmission

What year is your F150? The 10 speeds are notorious for having a rough-shift up from third to fifth (they normally skip 4th unless your in a transmission mode other than Normal). Usually, the reprogram fixes it, though. It may just need time for the adaptive learning to kick in if the ECM was...

    Possible gimbal bearing noise

How much water would have to be in the bilge to affect the gimbal bearing and U-joints? Wouldn't the engine be mostly underwater before the level reach the gimbal bearing? Seems like you'd have alternator and starter problems long before gimbal/U-joint problems.

    Out drive leaking.

If the transom is solid, why did it start leaking around the transom plate? By transom plate, I assume you mean you put the silicone around gimbal housing where it attaches to the outside of the transom. Why would that just start leaking? That very often is the first sign of a bad transom.

    battery chargers

Any electronic gear exposed to power problems (dirty power, brownouts, surges) can be messed up if are not protected. My guess is the circuit was not protected and as a result, the storm fried the unit. I wouldn't call that a failure on the part of the manufacturer.

Are Four Winns know to have strong hulls? Installing a tower

I'd use either Marine Tex (or PC11) or gelcoat paste. Either should patch those spots, no problem.

Trailer bunk popped off during loading

Is the 'side bunk' a guide that helps center the boat on the trailer, or is it an actual bunk that the boat rests on? I'd use either pressure treated lumber (same dimensions as what you currently have) or Western red cedar. You can either put the boat on stand (a bit of a pain, but not...

Water in Bilge? Where can it come from.......

I think intentionally filling a boat with water, particularly a fiberglass boat, is a horrible idea. Not only are you failing to recreate the conditions under which the boat is leaking, you are potentially introducing water to all sorts of places that would be better staying dry. I would never...

1981 Sportcraft 270 repair underway - transom, stringers, & repower

I reused my tyvek suits until they got holes in them. Before taking off the PPE, I'd use shop air to blow off as much fiberglass dust as I could. Once the tyvek gets a hole in it, it's done. I started wearing knee pads outside the tyvek suit, because (other than rips) the knees were the first...
