If the foam and stringers are OK, you can fill the holes in the stringers with 3m 5200 and replace the foam. For large areas, I think it's preferable to install the deck and cut some holes to pour the foam into. For a smaller area, I'd be inclined to pour the foam before decking it, and if...

I'd remove the foam from the wet areas and drill-check the stringers on either side. For removing large sections of foam, I found the claw end of a framing hammer worked well, and then a wire cup brush to clean up the leftovers. The nice thing about removing the foam in chunks (as opposed to...

Yes, fill the holes fully with 5200 and you'll be fine. Also, the tests you did will reveal the worst cases of rot, but that's about all. Good for you for checking more thoroughly with a drill.

    fiberglassing in new floor

Hard to say without seeing the inside of the transom area, but I think it would be easier to cut out the stringers enough to allow you to install the transom, even if you have to cut out more of the stringers than are rotten. (You may find more rot in the stringers than is immediately apparent...

    Newbie Hull Accessory Installation Question

Clearly fiberglass! No need to worry much about the cut edges. Just be sure to seal to protect for water intrusion around the perimeter of whatever you intall, as well as the screw holes, and you're good! I'd probably use 3M 4000 UV as suggested above. That way, you'll be able to get it off, if...

Bonding Polyester to Epoxy - Will this Work

I'd just use all polyester, too. Even a possibility of adherence problems between poly and epoxy would be enough to dissuade me from using epoxy. Why take a chance? Polyester will work fine, and then you don't need to worry about it sticking to epoxy. Probably less expensive, too.

    Floor and Transom Rebuild

I would not use 5200 to bond the two pieces of plywood together. That stuff can take a really long time to cure and there are better adhesives for the job. PL premium would work, but after using it you'll need to wait at least 72 hours as it cures and offgasses. A better choice would be either...

Mine looked great, and ran great, when I bought it. The outdrive didn't flex and everything seemed great. Until I tried to tighten a bolt holding the boarding ladder... and it just spun. That led to a more thorough investigation. In all places, the foam in my boat looked fine... on the top. When...

SWIM PLATFORMS. 2001 Chris Craft 210

If you search the forums, there were at least a couple members who bought a platform from one or another company; you might find some ideas of companies that did good work (or did not).

    fiberglassing in new floor

Did you ever drill holes to check the integrity of the transom and stringers? You can ask a thousand questions here, but until you check those out by inspecting the wood shavings from the holes, this is all just idle speculation.

    Restoring a 1990 Larson

Looking really nice! You've made great progress in a fairly short time period. I don't know about the cluster... it's so dated, it's almost cool again! Good luck with the splash! And remember... take pictures or video, or it didn't happen!

You can core sample foam by taking a piece of 3/4" copper pipe and tapping the pipe into the foam (gently) until you hit bottom. Then twist the pipe and pull it out. You can push the core sample out of the copper pipe with a wood dowel. I'd do this in a number of places, not just a few.

    Transducer cable through transom?

I installed one of those and had to drill a large hole in my transom also. As I was getting ready to drill, I couldn’t help but wish that they had thought of coming up with a smaller connector.

    Transducer cable through transom?

Drilling a hole and applying sealant actually works quite well. If you don't like the look, a clamshell over the cable hole on the outside of the boat dresses it up nicely. I personally would not want another hole in the transom if it wasn't sealed liberally with 3M 4200 or something similar.

    Getting 1st Covid/Pfizer shot romorrow

I've had both Moderna shots (last one was 6 days ago) and I had COVID last November. I had 'vigorous' immune response to both vaccine shots (aka, I felt pretty awful for about 36 hours) but it was nothing compared to having COVID and being sick for two weeks. Getting vaccinated is well worth it...

You have to fix it before running it. A boat with a rotten transom is unsafe for you and your passengers.

    Crooked or warped transom

The amount of foam produced is also a function of the ambient temperature. If you are mixing and pouring near the low end of the prescribed temp range for the foam, your yield will be less. If it’s warmer, you get a more energetic reaction and greater foam volume.
