I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Oh yeah, I forgot to post a pic of the console. I'd done a lot of wet-sanding on it too, so painted it along with the hull. Looks fine to me! :D

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks guys! It's been a long road but we're getting there. :joyous: And I simply HAD to go out and get some "morning after" pix. But now I'm locking the door and walking away for at least 4 days! The KF is just gonna sit in there and cook awhile. ;)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Last night the new spray gun was delivered. It all looked okay. Everything lined up and worked correctly. Even though it was improperly packed without padding. EEDJITS. This version comes in a case and includes 1.3mm, 1.5mm and 1.7mm tips and only one gun. A small cleaning...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

So I tried to harvest the whea... uhhh.. cut the gra.... uhhh... deal with THIS! Got about 2/3 of it done. Took 3.5 hours. Will have to take another whack at it in the next couple days.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Hi guys. I ordered another replacement Sprayit spray gun kit this morning using the HD eGift card. It'll be here next week. This time I ordered the SP-33000k which has a hard case but only the "big" R-500 spray gun. The "small" R-100 isn't included. And the tip sets are different as well...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yet another good day bad day for me today. Received the new spray gun kit. There was NO padding in the box at all and the gun was damaged! When I tried to unscrew the air cap, it wouldn't come off! It's like the fluid nozzle was glued on. I'll have to take it back to HD tomorrow. My...

    A little rod repair action

Went out to the garage this afternoon planning on sharpening hooks and doing some general tackle preparation for a fishing trip this evening. And found a problem. I've had this 6' 6" MH Shakespeare Ugly Stik for well over 30 years. Caught a bazillion fish with it over the years. And missed...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The boy and I were in the garage this morning and I was telling him of other things that we can work on after we get the boat painted. Once I'm satisfied with the white color coat I plan to just let the boat sit in the garage undisturbed for a week. Then we'll tape and mask off the areas for...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

So here's the deal. The boy and I had a 90 minute weather window for painting yesterday morning and got out there early. Started to do some pattern testing with acetone in preparation for shooting the paint and the regulator/pressure gauge failed. Fine. Researched online and found an...

1984 Starcraft 16ft Glutton for Punishment [Splashed July 2019]

My Kingfisher has trim on both sides of the gunwale. Isn't your boat similar? On mine, it would be possible to put the vinyl neatly under the trim.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

More testing this morning. I mixed a small batch of paint. 4 oz. paint 2 teaspoons of reducer. Used the 1.7mm tip set. Removed the inline filter from the gun. Results: Wet-sanded a couple more spots with 1500 & 2000 grit W/D paper. Missed a spot! ;) We're ready! Just need...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I'll leave out all the other stuff that went on and get right down to it now. I do believe that I found the problem with my spray pattern angst. The nozzle (fluid tip) for the 1.3mm tip set is NOT ALIGNED in the center of the atomization (air cap) piece! That means that while...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Well, the days can definitely be sticky when it's 98 degrees and 90% humidity! Some "practice" efforts this morning. Still getting weird shapes even after a multitude of adjustments. BUT! I'm pretty sure that I've finally found the culprit. Working on that issue and pix now.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Ran errands this morning but went out to the garage this evening to finish wet-sanding the console. I picked up a mult-pak of WD paper and started tonight with 1000 grit then on up to 2000. Worked well. Got 99% of the orange peel off the console. Having to put in all that elbow grease made...

This morning I started out by trying to harvest the whea,.. uhhh.... cut the grass! Yeah, that's what I meant to say. ;)

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I heard you about the masking line being "perfect" so a couple weeks ago I ordered some 1/2" x 36yd vinyl masking tape. Got it today. Maybe I'll be able to actually use it some day! LOL! I'd hoped to get a little work done on the KF today but the boy isn't feeling well! Now I...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This morning we got the white paint over the gray primer we put on yesterday. Then a little shop cleaning and that's all for today.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The boy and I got the KF hull wiped down this morning. Then we re-primed as described above. First with SE primer which I allowed to dry for 45 minutes (30 minutes okay per the can) and then we painted with the regular gray primer but only where there was bare aluminum. Next will be to use the...
