    Olympics

I've been watching some nights. Ya, really like the speed sports that don't rely too much on judging - skeleton is siiiick! The kid that laid-down a really great super-pipe run on a snowboard (Japan?) seemed to get 'robbed'. Ya, the hosting country doesn't seem to care they don't have enough...

    Weather

weather?, climate?, change? all depends on how these terms are defined. and yes, now that there's 24/7 "news" in so many places, "news stories" must be more sensational than the next to get eyes/ears/ and advertisers attached

1970 River Queen Houseboat new owner here!

Congrats and sounds like you're ready to concentrate on the positive, and have safety in mind. And yes, certainly, we're boaters with DIY point of view - all our best boater friends are at least a bit crazy. Enjoy!

I/O Exhaust Riser life in Fresh Water environment

When we re-powered our 1998 model year, I cleaned and re-painted the exhaust risers on that 350 (I assume original), to put on the new 350. They looked fine, and have been good on the re-power engine for the 5 years it's been in the boat. I think this boat has always been in non-salt water.

    Thundercraft Inverter

+1 on Chris's post, as usual. Red, maybe the term inverter in your question is thought of differently by some - sometimes things are called different things by different people

    I'm gonna be a grandpa - finally!!!

+1 on the congratulations, best wishes, and that it's a wonderful thing. The Admiral and I have been enjoying our first grandchild for about a year. So much that I'm leaving our "home-boat" at the dock this weekend to go up to the lake and see her (just another thing we never expected - and...

    Questions regarding tow vehicle

Maybe there's a landfill nearby - they usually have scales they'll let you use - or negotiate a very small fee, or free because it might be too much to figure out how to take your money

    small cruiser aft seat repair?

The aft seat bottom cushion backing (wood?) is shot. Can't get to it in-place so I'm assuming the entire aft-seat will have to be removed to do that. 2 questions (to start). Any other ideas on how to replace that bottom "backer-board" other than removing the whole thing and doing the repair...

Considering moving and changing my type of boat(ing) and want opinions

Opinion? Sure. briefly - fresh water, no tide, and lower potential for undesirable sea creatures of course there are so many variables - but of all the places I've boated, on the "upper" portion of an isthmus connecting Lakes Erie and Ontario is our favorite places to have a 25 foot small...

Buying a boat with a rebuilt sterndrive??

I pretty much agree with JimS, but our 1998 I/O had a lot of use when we got it in 2011, boat well-cared for, so we put a short-block in it, with a lot of help from a very good boat mechanic. Sure, we had to get a few things right on the engine re-install, but now the engine is a great-runner...
