    Well I did what you told me and adjusted the shift linkage. It was only off by a tiny bit. It still makes the same noise when you apply the throttle in reverse.

    The first set of numbers were cold. Second set I don't know if it was hot or cold when mechanic took them.

    It's now 2024. The engine has close to 800 hours on it. Oil pressure good, same as it always was. Compression 140-145 psi. Last time compression was tested at 325 hours it 160-175 psi cold.

    I have the same motor but its a 90. After watching your video Sounds like its. cranking, turning over, starting and then stalling out. Try running a separate fuel tank with fresh gas and see what happens.

    Water pump was replaced but it was occurring before then. Yes, lower unit gear oil OK. Cable I cannot say that it was last adjusted maybe in a long time ago.

    My engine goes into forward and reverse with zero problems. Sounds normal. However, when I shift into reverse and give it some rpms It make a loud ratcheting sound and pops out of gear. Any thoughts?

    Everything was done as listed....gimbal bearing is new as its part of the transom assy package when you buy it....to my knowledge gimbal bearings roar when they are going bad.
