    Boat Pricing

What is the condition of the running gear and upholstery. Big issue as folks have mentioned is condition of stringers and transom. Not sure if that carport completely covers it, if sitting outside for years floor and stringers would be highly suspect. Do they have any repair records? NADA...

How to prime fuel after winter / fogging

Carb will be dry after winter. You can verify that by pumping the throttle and seeing if accelerator pump squirts any gas in carb throat. Normally you have to crank it a bit to get the fuel pump to refill the carb-you can dump a little gas down it it should cough. If it doesn't you have an...

Have you adjusted the idle mixture to see if it smooths out? Check for vacuum leaks at carb base too. As AD mentioned on the water and in fwd it should idle ok 650 or so

I need help, boat runs rough and stalls. I pumped new gas and lots more.. I need help

Additionally if venturis are dripping at idle start with float adjustment but also too high fuel pressure can overcome the float. If needle and seat adjustments don’t cure it measure fuel pressure

    Easiest Conversion

Mercruiser 3.0/140 you will loose some power. If more power than 3.0 is needed do a 4.3 but that will involve stinger work and is wider. on a 3.0 drop 2” of prop pitch u should be able to use existing drive

    Stringers

If you tabbed the stringers in you will be fine , just keep it under a hundred mph... Way less stress on a hull sitting on The wagon vs going through rough water

    Transom ideas for ib/od

not to rain on your parade, regardless of condition you may want to reconsider getting either of these engines. In the videos you can see rounded cavitation plates on the drives. This means they are not alpha ones but he earlier MC1 drives with the lifting eye on upper. While these are a decent...

    2000 Stingray 190 RX Restoration

Out of all the work needed, the engine work is the easiest . As others have said tear it down get a long block or wrecking yard 4.3 for marinizing

    Replacing clutch on my mini...

the auto when used in Manual sport mode is essentially a clutchless manual ... it holds the gear until you hit redline then it automatically upshifts. Have you had yours since new? The turbo scared me given the factory recommended oil change interval of 15 or 20k which is insane. Wife loves...

    Replacing clutch on my mini...

We have a 2011 Mini (base non turbo). Yes big PITA to work on. Mine is an automatic so cant help much with the clutch- if you have can afford the time can't you have the flywheel machined? Its so much work to get in there I would definitely resurface or replace the flywheel and do the RMS. As...

    Boat Engines

I would save your money and buy the boat that has been best maintained by the PO. I think it is a good sign if they are stepping up to a newer, bigger boat than getting out of boating. While you may get what looks like a good deal on a boat but if there is a back log of work they haven't done...

    Gimbal bearing

No all the same size assuming you were sent the correct one. Is it missing the tolerance ring that goes around it? It should be a tight fit unless the lip where it seats into the gimbal housing cracked when the old one was removed?

    4bbl 350 intake question

I don’t think there is much difference except the first photo has a universal mounting it can take spread or square bore carbs. There are two sets of threaded holes for mounting the different pattern carbs. One on the right looks like a std GM set up for quadrajet carb only. A square bore like...

    2002 Mercruiser 5.0 EGR pipe

Vortec heads do not have a cross over. I wasn't sure why you were asking- no reason to remove it. I blocked the cross over on a 65 GTO I have ended up taking it out as had trouble getting it to idle until it was really warm. Unless you are changing out to a 4 bbl leave it alone

    2002 Mercruiser 5.0 EGR pipe

When I repowered my 5.0 and upped to a aftermarket intake and edlebrock 1409 there is no provision for this and it works fine. I don’t think this is egr but rather heating like on a exhaust cross over on pre vortec engines If you look at places like Michigan motorz who sells partial engines...

    Engine oil choice 1984 3.8l

Those are not the batwing manifolds that had casting issues and can leak water into engine. If they are not corroded or cracked leave them alone. Most freshwater ones last the lifetime of the boat if they don't get freeze damaged

    projects other than boats

I use the Diablo 80 tooth ones for both seems to do pretty good cost vs performance. I paid $35 for my table saw at a yard sale, its funny to pay more for the blade

    projects other than boats

I'm halfway through doing about 1200 sq ft of hickory flooring, can vouch for the blades getting dull. On my second miter saw blade so far... At least it will hold up well.
