How fast is 85 force outboard

The 17 ft. Bayliner with an 85 hp. with trim@tilt will do 40+mph, depending on load. Took one to the Annapolis in water boat show 1987/88? I was surprised how fast it was.

    Force 507X8B Shift Issues

The shifter from a Chrysler and Force should work. What connector are you using? The long or short? Pics??? Morse is just a brand name, they were used on lots of outfits, Force Volvo Sterndrive and Chrysler inboards, Ford ETC!! How hard is it to shift by hand? The seal where the shift shaft...

1989force outboard not firing on all cylinders

No fire on #3 You can switch the packs and see if the no spark follows the change? The way the wirings set up you can't just swap the wires to the unused set. Now if the #2 wasn't firing then you could swap the packs. Try the tug test: the trigger wires are very thin and break easily and the...

    90 Force 90 HP....water pump?

You guys are right 2 completely different motors and cooling systems. The older: most of the cooling water exit's through the snout on the bottom of the cavitation plate. The newer: water exits through the prop and a couple other places. IF??? the hose supplies a lot of water and it doesn't...

    Failed drive shaft

How's he gonna get the or any tool into the lower unit to undo the pinion nut? The only tool that fits in there is a 7/8 wrench. Drill out the shaft and use a BIG easy out?? along with the 7/8 wrench. No way to get heat in there either.

    1989 85hp WOT only 4300rpm

I seriously doubt you'd get 4300 if the motor was missing on one cyl. Things to look for: load in the boat, motor not trimmed up, wrong prop(what's on there?) what size boat. Try running with the cover off? Tank vent line clogged?

    Finally Had To Retire It

Been seeing lots of Yamaha broken plastic control arm connectors :( especially the ones for the oil pump. Wish they made them in metal.

force 1996 120 xl shift shaft came up

OOPS!! There's a small piece that's dropped down inside, called the shift control cam. It fits on the end of the shift shaft and pushes the cam follower to shift gears. Gotta take it apart and reassemble. Get a factory manual if possible, if not the Clymer or Seloc might have the info you need.

    Force 85hp tilt trim wiring

Looks like the spaghetti monsters attacked your wiring!!! The two wires the blue and green: Blue is up, Green is down. The #1 in the pic is the switch for up/down yours is probably in your handle. https://cdn.boats.net/MTA/d/3/MTMxMTU3OA-3630140a.png

You should have posted that your old housing was bad. I've got one that I would have given you for a donation to an animal shelter. Good luck with the new motor.

    No Spark After a Short - '89 50hp

Don't assume anything when it comes to outboards :( "but stator looks bright and clean, and the magnets look good from what I can see." Again don't assume. Like the Force Power said" even a stator that tests good can be bad" You'll need to get a meter and the adaptor for DVA or Peak Reading...

Me again ugh Force 120 hp now a flywheel question

Myself, I've not had much luck in re-gluing magnets except the older ones that are one long band (pre 94/95) Like Redbarron suggested look for scrap outboards and maybe you'll find a good flywheel?

New Force Owner, No Start Issue

These motors don't usually need the timing adjusted once it's set. If the key's sheared it won't run very good if it runs at all. Backfiring is usually an air leak at the port covers or the diaphragm in the pump needs replacing(allows to much fuel to the piston) or the air screws are set wrong????

    85hp Force Under powered

The reason there's 2 in one and 1 in the other is the motors a 3 cyl. If it was a 4cyl. both would have 2 wires in each connector. The "plug and play" connectors(made before 1987, used on the power pack) are famous for failing. Each coil has plug and play connectors but don't seem to be a...
