    1990 Force....couple issues

Mercury sells the right zip tie. The regular zip is flat while the Mercury is rounded and made to squeeze the whole hose not the 90% the other ties use. If Mercury uses them?? Good enough for me :) TIE STRAP, (8.00 INCHES) 816311T

How long have you owned a Chrysler Outboard and what has been your experience

That threaded hole's great for adding a tell tale and possibly a temp gauge if you don't use it for a pressure gauge.

    1990 Force....couple issues

The plenum should have a hose barb on the bottom and it hooks to the hose from the manifold. Once the slide's free it should start easily, just make sure you hold the choke in until it coughs/fires then usually they start without the choke. You using fast idle?

How long have you owned a Chrysler Outboard and what has been your experience

Problem with the gauge is your not watching the dash all day. Myself if I tried that I'd be chummin in no time. That's why I installed extra horns(mtorcycle and car)and test the system regularly. I bought a 21 Bayliner with twin Forces, first week the flywheel key sheared and then within 4-5...

    Tilt trim switch wiring

The 50hp cable might not have the blue/green leads built in. The 85/125/150 from 1987 had the leads built in.

1996 FORCE 75hp idle issue (especially when F to R)

The only time the bulb stays firm is when you pump it up before starting. Once it's started, the ball just sets there and fuel flows through the one way valve. IF?? it's hard then? it just might be old and stiff??

    Failed drive shaft

Some of the bearing carriers only had 1 seal in the carrier. The other seal could be for the drive shaft/water pump seal?? If yours had 2 then start going through the parts diagrams looking for the carrier with the 2 seals.

    1990 Force....couple issues

The choke solenoid, a shot of carb cleaner as you manually move the slide. Then a shot of WD-40 to keep it lubed and check the operation as the butterflies need to close completely to work right. The grey hoses are junk, they have a liner that breaks loose and can bunch up and block the lines...

    Force 507X8B Shift Issues

Seloc SUCKS!! and it's almost better than nothing, almost. Most of the exhaust and water comes from the snout and the holes in the back are for excess. Get the right muffs(see pics) and then you'll see the snout working. The other muffs don't seal right. Install a pee tube. Top of the head...

That diagram is for a later model and has no T@T ??? The switch needed is a 3 position spring loaded on/off/on One on is for up, the middle is for hot, the 3rd is for down. On the motor the up is Blue and down is green. Does the 85 have T@T solenoids/relays?

Force 50 Water coming out of spark plugs (pics)

What's the compression? How'd you take it? The red stuff is silicone that's cooked and oozed out the edges, just pry it off. Once the screws(might be as many as 12) are out the cover should come off. Water from the plug holes: bad head gasket, cracked block. The pistons look bad but if the edges...

    Adjusting Trim Tab

When you pull to the right, your supposed to turn the fin to the right. When you put the boat in the water, everybody out of the boat see if it sets level in the water. Some cases they load up the twin batteries they end up on the drivers side and this can cause problems.
