You now know all wiring is probably corroded. Replace 1 wire at a time to stop more erratic running. Reuse NOTHING that is still original. Very simple satisfying project. Then you will KNOW !!! It is not another wire somewhere causing problems.

Do a simple carburetor float check.
Start squeezing the Rubber Primer Bulb about 6 times. Post how many squeezes you were able to do. Do not do more than 6 times.
I always remove ALL wood and plastic pieces from the weapon. 2 reasons.
Prevent steel cleaners and finishes from staining the wood.
Prevent wood cleaners, sanding spots, and refinishing from attacking or spotting the metal.
A 1 time leak ? Might have been a piece of fishline. Remove the prop & thrust washer. See if ANY smeared fishline is melted against the bearing surface. If yes? Post back about it.
Do a Compression Test of both cylinders pressure.
The bottom cylinder has the problem always.
Is the bottom ignition spark in trouble ? Wire, connector, coil.
Or is the Reed Valve Assembly of the bottom cylinder damaged ?
I wipe off oils and other stuff with alcohol or Acetone. Then use a fat tipped Magic Marker or Sharpie pen to coat the surface. It dries almost instantly. Start the first light filing to see how flat the surfaces are. Repeat as needed.
ONLY by a very experienced Marine Aluminum housing welder. Only 1 in my boating area.
Steel & Iron people need not attempt the repair. Been there with them. (n)
Size will ALWAYS win in approaching bad weather !! Especially if you MUST run into it. All the way home / dock. Been there many times. Keep the bigger boat and motor !! (y)
