    Plastic where zinc goes.

Welcome Don't cut it off, that is the Mercathode and is more important then the zinc. If the boat stays in the water and is connected to shore power then you need zincs are needed if your in salt water, otherwise need different type depending on kind of water.

    Getting boat on plain

Getting enough info to determine what may be wrong remains a chore. If you could just give it all it would be much easier. Kind of like following bread crumbs ok motor compression is better then a new motor, or gauge is off. What boat model Chap "what"? Is outdrive original, came from...

    1992 mariner 150hp

Welcome What size prop depends on what boat the motor was installed on. Most would never have use a 25 pitch, would be closer to 19 to 21. If you know what your WOT RPM and speed is, we could come up with a better guess

    VOLVO PENTA OUTDRIVE DROPPING INSTANTLY

Eng acts like safety kill switch is engaged.

Welcome Might be the key switch. You should get 12V on the coil when cranking and 8V with key ON. Need to see if the points are opening and closing.

2002 Volvo Penta 3.0 GSP SX - Alarm Sounding

Welcome I don't have a wiring diagram either, but in most cases the temp gauge does not use the same sender and the temp alarm. Look on the thermostat housing to see if there are 2 sensor/switch

    Shift cut out switch problem

With ground being good then it has to be the wire going to the ECM or connector it self (bad connection). With motor running you should be able to jump across the connector

    Shift cut out switch problem

Welcome Your saying EFI so I take it the motor is TBI, correct? It was working but after head work it doesn't. Look around for a disconnected ground. Will be small with most likely a ring terminal. Take a meter set on ohms and measure at the switch connector on the black wire and see if it...

    Vhf antenna question

That is known as a "cold" solder joint, and wire is sticking out to far. There was insufficient heat to flow the solder Should be cleaned and re-soldered by heating connection using flux core solder, and trim wire flush with the end. To test, find another boater with a radio, maybe handheld...

3.0 liter for straight shaft inboard project

Welcome For the almost full closed cooling on a 3.0 you would need either MPI with CAT's. The CAT motors are the first time the raw water intake/exhaust manifolds are separate A V6 is probably to much weight, but maybe a Rotax

    Getting boat on plain

ok, then it may be low on compression. A motor that has low compression will run good similar to a Reman, but when put under load it shows it self. A motor should be close to 150 psi per cylinder. As compression gets lower so does the HP. The same motor with 100 psi will start and run fine...
