    Changed thermostat and have quick hot idle temperature. :) But when I did a quick palm of hand over the carburetor opening at idle speed. Fully wet gasoline coated hand............. Looks like Reed Valve blocks next. Oh well. Somebody is going to get a Sweetheart Oldie. (y)

    Supplied you with the wrong gasket ? If you have the old gasket ? Lay it over the new one to see if they have identical holes I always compare a new part very carefully to the old part.

    There are some people who can make a block of Titanium into a dust pile. My brother is one of them. Everything has problems very quickly.

    A disconnected thermostat wire connector Does wonders to make a motor run well enough with no load on it.

    Most new motor dealers are in business to SELL a new motor. Later they will tell you of a problem. Just their way to stay in business.

    Thank you for the heads up about Oxidation being there. I will bring a drill and a small rotary wire brush. Also a piece of medium sandpaper.

    Got very lucky. Found the 28 SPL motor parts bag. Still has 1 more T stat gasket. Spring . And the correct cover gasket. No excuse to not do the repair in record heat. Need to buy some spare S S bolts. Need 1 to buy 5 spares. I am that dropsy now.

    After a 5 minute very fast idle. The thermostat housing was just a little hand touch warm. That is the problem. Oh well . will have it put on the trailer & parked on the grass area. (y)

    Looking at the sparkplugs after about 1 total hour of trolling each day. Brand new plugs are black and covered with shiny oil. Gaps are .040. NGK hotter plugs that NGK recommended as safe to run forever at WOT. Last year I started using them with same problem. No trolling. No plug problems...

    115 hp will rip apart that old aluminum . Miles from land ?? How perfect are all the other welds & rivets ? Might sleep better with a better hull ?
