    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

So with rain over I got back to my boat. Got an air powered setup (which I really like as it has a valve to isolate the air supply after reaching the proper pressure), put some water & Dawn on the cap gasket to lubricate and used the adapter cap key to tighten the adapter cap. This time...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Workshop manuals ordered, although website has many glitches and they appear to being shipped from Sweden. Hopefully rain will stop soon in DE. I have a better air powered cooling system pressure tester with a ball valve to shut off the air supply once the proper pressure is reached. Little...

Motor has power, won’t turn over

You need a DVM and do some digging around. I would start at the starter solenoid. You will need a second person.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I tried the cooling system pressure tester on my 2015 F250 pickup and it lost almost 2 lbs in maybe 45 minutes. So I am thinking it's a defective cooling system pressure tester.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

The exhaust elbow is only 125F so it's the proper temp. I want to get by the current problem with overheating exhaust manifold. Then pull the exhaust elbows. The exhaust elbows are OEM only. Over $1000 each. Probably because of having a catalytic converter between the exhaust manifold and...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

The issue is on the closed cooling side and I see no indication of any corrosion as the coolant looks in new condition. And the temp sensor in exhaust manifold is along the top surface where an air pocket is likely to be. Remember it's happening at the same time on both exhaust manifolds so...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I am thinking my next test is to try and get rid of any trapped air by running the engine at 1500 for 2 or 3 minutes. If the goal is to get rid of the trapped air is it best to run with the cap for the expansion tank off. With a leak potential in the heat exchanger I guess I don't want to pull...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I agree the leak does need to be dealt with but what is causing the overheat? Once I resolve the overheat I am plan to pull the heat exchanger and get is tested and possibly repaired. Or replaced.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Ok, while it's a leak I need to deal with it's not the cause of the overheating as long as I keep my eye on the coolant level. Is air in the cooling system the problem?

TWIN 1994 VOLVO PENTA 8.2 OVERHEATING

They are new so very unlikely. Hopefully they used the right gasket between the exhaust manifold and exhaust riser.

TWIN 1994 VOLVO PENTA 8.2 OVERHEATING

I started but did not finish. Anyway my questions would be what others have already asked. In the water or on muffs or maybe the flush port if the engine has one? With both engines overheating it's likely to be the water supply. If on muffs while the engine is running is the garden hose...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Got to the boat today and one of the caps in the cooling pressure test kit fit so I did a cooling system test. Lost 2 lbs in 30 min. Expansion tank was down only 1 PT from last test run where is overheated. So one of my thoughts for a potential problem was I had lost a lot of coolant during...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I will check the small hose. Then 1500 RPM for 2 minutes will drive any trapped air out if that way is going to work? Faster? Longer time?

    Raw water pump pulley

You will need a new pump. Not every piece of the Volvo Penta engine is sold as an individual part.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I understand what you are saying. My issue right now is finding the coolant. My local dealer does not stock it so I ordered a case from them. I have ordered some online but they are out of stock now. Maybe I could drive out the air by rev'ing the engine several times?

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I have one of those but what would I need to do? Cooling System is full, maybe with some air pockets. Drain the system and fill using the vacuum filler?

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Ok I will try and drain the sea water before doing a pressure test. I did not add coolant while the engine was running rather added coolant to the FULL line then ran engine for two minutes. Added more coolant. Ran by engine for another two minutes and added more coolant. Then started engine...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Tried to get the proper adapter cap for the cooling system expansion tank from a VP dealer but they said they could not get it. So I ordered a cooling system pressure test kit from Amazon with an assortment of adapter caps. Hopefully one will fit. Still trying to figure what could be wrong...
