    Helps to have a friend with an excavator to pull the engine. Irwin sells a ez-out kit with left handed drill bits and matching ez-outs. Some might weld on a nut to the broken off bolt to try and get it out. I still vote for a new oil pan

    The battery is a simple thing to charge and test. Make sure your starting battery is up to snuff if it's questionable.

    Go to Bob is the Oil Guy forum and contact Trav. He is one of the best and specializes in gas engine injectors. I bought a set of multi port injectors for a Jeep Grand Cherokee to replace the stock single port injectors from him.

    I would not go crazy with several oil changes. The fuel will tend to "burn" off when the engine gets hot.

    Does it crank at normal speed? Does it even try to start or nothing? Try some starter fluid to see if that helps.

    I would try starter fluid to see how it runs for a few seconds on starter fluid. If it runs fine for a few seconds everytime you give it a shot of starter fluid then I would look at carb and the gas supply. If it does not start every time you squirt in some starter fluid then look at ignition.

    So there is typically a small spring inside the relay that holds the contacts in the unenergized position. What if the spring broke or became unattached and the the contacts could bounce back and forth going on and going off at random. Longshot.

    Given the hassle with pulling the engine why not ger a new oil pan. An hour to pull the engine probably does not include the time to pull the outdrive.

    Disconnect the battery cables until you fix the fuel leak. A fuel leak is likely a crack in a hose or fitting.

    I would definitely remove the exhaust manifolds and exhaust elbows/risers. They should be inspected every few years. More often in salt water. Most boat engines die from water ingestion.

    So does the engine crank at roughly the same speed for the first attempt and second and third and forth. Obviously at some point you are draining the battery and the cranking speed will drop. If the speed drops over the first several attempts then you need to check all the battery cables...

    You definitely should get water out of the inlet to the raw water pump. Make sure you have identified the inlet. The water inlet from the outdrive comes up through the outdrive and possibly through an oil cooler and/or fuel cooler near or under the engine before making its way to the raw water...

    If you buy a new or used one on eBay that was originally printed and sold by Volvo Penta that is legal. What violates copyright laws is buying one where someone made a paper or digital copy of an original VP manual.
