It looks like the correct one. Depending on the temperatures where you are you could loosen the choke some. Does it also have the brass inlet fitting for the fuel line?

    Clear hose

Home Depot/Lowe’s has clear reinforced hose that I have used to replace all the hoses on my jet boat. They can be used if you do not need any that are molded with tight bends.

    Overheating under load

Add a piece of clear hose just where the supply hose enters the thermostat housing. This will show if there is an air leak on the incoming supply. Have someone watch the clear hose before and when on plane. If there are bubbles after the boat planes then the drive is the problem. If the...

    Bought a replacement Merc 3.0 Engine - wrong flywheel/coupler

If the bolt circle on the replacement engine is larger than the previous engine then you will need the following from Sierra Marine. 877 663 8396 18-72510 stud kit 18-2171 Coupler. Double check with them but this should get you back in the water.

Alpha one drive gear /shaft od 1.50:1

2Xs with the Boat doctor. The last thing you want to do is start switching those spacers or mixing them. When the retainer is tight it should be easy to rotate the shaft with no slack.

I once had a slight bogging problem and after removing the Venturi boosters and removed the check ball spring there were 2 springs that were wound around each other doubling the resistance. This was on a new engine that I had installed. The fuel would barely squirt.

Alpha one drive gear /shaft od 1.50:1

The original 1.32 ratio that came with the Ford 233 hp used the stepped i.d. bearing set. All other engine combinations used bearings that shared the same i.d. What you have is probably a gearhousing that has been rebuilt and parts swapped around. The older this stuff gets the more likely this...

    flywheel replacement

It may be possible to just separate the engine at the flywheel housing. The only thing that could cause a problem is if the splined shaft is rusted into the flex plate. If that happens then by working through the starter mount hole unbolt the plate from the flywheel. As Scott said the ring...

    Trim sending Unit

The first versions of your model did not have zerk fittings to grease the pivot points. There was a service bulletin where the bolt had to be removed then drill through, tap the hole and screw in the zerk fitting. Try to back the screw out some so that the corrosion may loosen up. A length...

    Trim sending Unit

The socket head bolt is loose and may be corroded in the hinge point of the gimbal ring. Get a 1/2” Allen wrench and try to tighten it. That is the only thing that turns the sender.

On the suction side of the raw water pump remove that hose, get a piece of hose connect it to the suction side and submerge the other end in a bucket. If the pump still does not pull water then the raw water side of the heat exchanger is blocked. You did say before that the exhaust manifold...

When the drive is submerged below the swivel joint no air can enter the incoming water. When on plane the joint is above the water line allowing air to enter. No matter what, this area should be addressed.

Sierra #18-3888 lower gear unit seal kit. You need to drop he lower gearcase and replace these seals. Anytime an overheat occurs above planing speed this must be first addressed. It is a common problem with AQs. All needed tools are fractional, the oil needs to be drained and refilled after...

    Repairing Coupling assembly

First thing to do when the boat is on the trailer is remove the lower drain plug from the gearcase. It may be possible that the drive seized up from lack of oil which caused the coupling to fail. If that happened see if you do not have some fishing line wrapped around the propeller shaft...

    Can Rollers Damage the hull?

No doubt about bunk style trailers, almost every boat I have owned over the last 45 years have had them and the last 3 I added the plastic slides. In the 30+ years that I had a stern drive repair shop I saw my share of dimpled hulls from not enough roller support. Another cause of hull damage is...
