    The reason for the exhaust relief was to help larger boats to get on plane. If you do restrict the relief it may also affect your planing speed. Just try it out.

    Remember what I stated in post #2. There are some special tools that are used to remove and replace the small pin male/female connectors. You did the best thing by removing the connectors. Now there is no doubt that the connections are good.

    You can also remove the suction hose from the through transom fitting in the boat then submerge it in a bucket of water. That way you will know if the pump is working.

    Where the screws protrude through the bottom there is a raised area on the tilt housing, 2 nuts go under the raised area to hold the housing down.

    Your exhaust manifold riser could be the problem leaking back just enough exhaust water to foul the spark plugs.

    Most likely the clutch plates are rusted together. Pull the transmission and have it rebuilt.

    I had to keep a cut down mount in stock because the Galaxy boats usually had the front too high which was caused by the “X” dimension too low. And also Mercruiser did make a “short” front mount at one time. As Chevyls6 stated in #8 that he had replaced the front mount and it may be too high.

    If the transom is not rotted then what may have happened is the hull has settled just due to the age. The easy fix is to remove the front mount and have a welding shop cut and re weld 1” out of it. Also a very good chance that the rear mounts should be replaced.

    Make sure that all the studs are the same height. If one is higher than the others it can be driven back down with a brass drift and a suitable hammer. Then re adjust the rocker arm.

    That is what the resistor wire does. Normally when the engine is running the voltage will be around 7-8 volts on the + or bat side of the coil.

    When the engine overheats does coolant start coming out of he heat exchanger? The only other thing I can think of is your exhaust manifold could have a restriction not allowing the raw water out.

    Try running a #10 ground wire directly from the negative battery terminal to where the negative from the motor is grounded. Do the same from the positive battery terminal with another #10 to the side of the solenoid that is connected to the fused feed wire. See if that makes a difference.

    There is a very fine filter in the suction tube in the tank. The tube unscrews from the fitting where the fuel line is connected. After removing the tube use a small rod to push the filter out reassemble the fitting.

    Try using a 6 gallon outboard tank connected to the fuel filter, this way you will narrow down where the supply problem is. Is the carburetor clean on the inside?

    The kit is a piece of cake to install. Try to post a picture of the pump or how many blades are on the impeller and how many screws hold the cover to the main body. There are at least 2 types Volvo used.
