    Which needle does the carb have, the one with or without the spring tip? If it has the spring tip as part of the needle the float needs to be lowered slightly. Is the 5.5psi read while the motor was running or benched tested?

    What is the motors serial number? Does the motor start easy but just won't increase above 2000 when in gear? Have you done a compression test? What is the fuel pressure reading?

    Have not removed a shower but have removed wood rot till there was no rot and rebuilt. This looks pretty extensive, so unless you really love the boat you might want to think of options With boats and rot, its always start ripping it out until you reach good wood

    Never seen a motor which doesn't have a simple system to align timing marks. Double over head cam, they still use timing marks. If there is bent valves, then valve job and put back together That said, if ya don't want to do it, then go with the warranty

    Unless your seeing Black smoke rolling, I would still think its the injection pump. A diesel is very efficient so it produces power based on how much fuel and air it gets. If it gets more fuel then it can burn it blows black smoke. If your not getting black smoke, then your not getting enough...
