In today words maybe polish would be a better term. I always has great results with nothing more that a piece of paper or match book. Even used the match book as a feeler gauge in a pinch.

I save just about everything unless it 100% broken and even then I’ll taking it apart and salvage what’s still good. It’s a illness. My friends give me hell for it but I’m the first guy they call when they need some strange part.

    Johnson Looper V4

I have seen rods punch through a block more than once from high rpm’s with no load. Picture your self running down hill at 60 mph. You can’t keep it together😂

Should I buy this 1973 Evinrude 65 triumph?

Agreed! It’s good to hear there are still some young folks willing to learn. There is no better way to learn than to dive in and do the work. It’s more fun than sitting on the couch playing video games. Enjoy the time and soak up the knowledge. Best

I agree. If that pic is of a new part I would take it back. It looks like it used to me.

Thoughts on Sierra carb rebuild kits

In my eyes it would be worth the extra cost. But I also feel Sierra products are the next best thing. Just my thoughts. Best

Broken head bolt. Evinrude 150 E150EXERV.

$50 bucks is a steal. Shops in my neck of the charge that just to pick up phone. Average cost would be in the neighborhood of $140 an hour.

    Stuck water pump impeller

Sorry I can’t be of any help. I’m in Ma and know of a guy that has lots of used lowers but the shipping would be crazy I’m sure. I had to ask though. I once asked this questions many years ago and the poster was only 3 miles away. Best of luck with the hunt.

I use a deep cycle battery and fully charge it at the beginning of my season and keep it topped off with solar charger. It will last my the whole summer.

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

So how did you make out? Did you get new lead In your rebuild kit? I never do. A buddy gave me a bunch of lead shot from shotgun shells years ago and I can usually find one that will fit if needed. I rarely take them out unless that are lose or someone mangled it trying to get it out. Anyway...

In my opinion there is no need to remove the lead shot. They just block off the milling ports. Others may say differently.

You need to remove the Welch plug as well. There are tiny little holes under the one for the ideal needle that can get plugged up.
