It’s ok that’s it flush. You would only weld the inside of the nut to the broken bolt basically making it a bolt again. It works well and as I say the heat from welding helps with removal.

How are the cylinder walls? Can you get by with just honing them? If so try welding a nut to the broken head bolt to remove it. Just set a good fitting nut over the bolt and weld the inside of the nut to the broken bolt. The heat created will aid in the removal as well.

J120TLLCA - Technical question about reverse issues and "ok" clutch dog.

Can’t say for sure but it looks like there may be some chipping on the gears. If you still have the old gear oil run a magnet through and see what you find. Maybe a chip was hanging you up from hitting reverse. It happens to my knees all the time.

Johnson 115 ocean pro running on one cylinder

Seems maybe your 4th plug is fouling out. You have spark but how strong is it on that cylinder. You may be passing more fuel than needed in that cylinder as well. Keep digging

    hard to start when warm

If it runs fine when you get it going it could just be your starting procedure. If you seeing unburned fuel you may be holding the key in to long. Just try starting it by turning the key first and if it doesn’t kick off then push the key in for a second.

Can you weld a broken tiller arm gear 1983 15hp Evinrude

I can think of a couple ways to go about this but the welding option would be to drive the pin out and remove the gear. Then bevel the rod ends and weld it back together and drill the pin hole again. Best of luck

    Intermittent water

I wish that were the case in my location. It’s not uncommon to find them completely blocked in my neck of the woods and they can be packed so tight you almost have to grind your way through passages to clear them the best you can. To the OP if you want to rule out your pump you could always...

I should have asked sooner! Was this just maintenance? Was it pumping okay before you replaced the pump or did you replace it because it wasn’t pumping correctly?

    1990 15 hp Evinrude e15eesr won't pee at idle

Might be worth taking another look just Incase something dislodged and clogged the line during assembly. I have also found the lines clogged with Vaseline that was used the lube the impeller. Don’t know if you went that route. Only takes a second to fish the pee hose with a small wire just to be...
