    Burnt fuel pooling?

Older 2 strokes will leave lots of residue so that's a tough one. If it's running well, and a smaller bucket than I would say totally normal.

Unburnt oil and gas, totally normal.

what causes an overheat alarm when the engine is not overheating

Probably should check top of the head with a heat gun when it happens to be sure but yes there are sensors that go bad. They are located on the back of the head.

1982 Evinrude 90hp Trim/Tilt not working. Stuck in down position on boat lift.

There is a manual relief screw located on the port side clamp bracket. Small hole (nickel size) where you stick a large size standard screw driver. Turn it counter clockwise and then you can pull up the motor while someone moves down the trailering bracket or tightens up the screw. Might be low...

    Suzuki 9.9 water restriction?

Logic says obstruction. Did you remove the water pump and see if you have any missing pieces of impeller? If it sat a long time and the impeller dry rotted, you probably plugged it. Try to back flush if you can....maybe through the t-stat housing. Otherwise your grommet might be toast and the...

    Johnson 65ESL72S Timing question

Interesting....wonder how long that's going to stick around. Lubricates the old valves I was always told.

    Johnson 65ESL72S Timing question

I don't use ethanol but from what I hear besides rubber stuff you just don't want to store it. So if used make sure you run it out of the engine before storing. (Collects water) Also, I was always told 89 octane is fine. As for lead? Not sure where you find that anymore!!!

1985 evinrude 30 hp prop power issue

Because you don't know if you've fixed it for sure....I'm not sure why you didn't temporarily eliminate it so as to rule it out completely. You do not need the primer to run only to cold start it better. Not sure your being complete when you go through tasks....which means your hoping.

    Johnson 65ESL72S Timing question

Not sure but here is a video. He says 26 for the 3cyl model and 22 for the 2 cyl model. Might want to confirm that.

    Fuel question

If you have a 3 way valve with no check valve (one way valve) then your probably drawing air from the rotted bulb. Remove the rotten one and replace or cap and then try. They sell a plastic hand pump for removing gas (at least they used to) I bought one for a whaler that had bad gass in the...

    Fuel question

No, the hose or the bulb. You must have an onboard permanent tank, next time make sure you say that. Permanent tanks are always vented. I have no idea of the condition of your tank.

    Fuel question

Probably has a hole or cracks so not pumping or there is a check valve in the bulb that has failed. Sounds old, I would probably not use the fuel.

    Fuel question

Is the bulb pointed in the right direction? There is an arrow on it. Did you open the vent on the cap?

Are you sure the draw tube was aligned correctly with pump housing when you re-installed the gearcase?

1985 evinrude 30 hp prop power issue

The plastic nipple on the primer likes to break off so be careful.

    35 Johnson overheating

End of your tube might have rotted off. There were several options online for a complete OEM pump kit but maybe you tried a local dealer. Might start getting hard to get this stuff.

    Fuel line connection

Try a new end but primer ball check valve may not be working allowing gas to go wrong direction.....or live with a leak.
