1980 StarCraft 181 holiday power upgrades

That's way low. What prop is on there now? Have you done a compression check?

    Mercruiser 5.7L Engine Hoist Recommendations

I went through this a few years ago. Ended up just building one out of lumber. I figured I could reuse everything when I was done. That said, it's still standing in my driveway, because I know that as soon as I dismantle it my engine will explode.

    Mercruiser 5.7L Engine Hoist Recommendations

It would be a pain to reinstall with a truck imo. Probably need finer control over positioning than what a truck could do with limited time available.

Quagga and Zebra mussels inspection on mercruiser out drive.

I meant that the water doesn't serve to cool the impeller, the lubrication it provides prevents friction with the housing, which is what causes damage. This would be the least of my concerns. That said, sounds like you're due for a change anyway

Quagga and Zebra mussels inspection on mercruiser out drive.

I think you'd be fine. Imo the lower unit/impeller would be the biggest concerns also, but unlikely to an issue. Water is lubrication for the impeller, and you'd have to get the lower unit pretty hot to do damage. If engine doesn't overheat is be fine with it. Rubber bits are most susceptible to...

Water in Oil (Again) Head Scratcher

This is the most thorough investigation that I've seen in a while. If it leaks again, that's your sign to scuttle the boat.

    Mercruser 3.7 488 wiring help

6 pics, could you label them better? Also can't tell which wires are original color from the plug vs. spliced with a different color. "Feeds most of the engine components"- which components? Pic 2, looks like the main harness from the engine to gauges Pic 3, is there a plug on there? Looks to...

    3.7l to 4.3 engine swap

Depends on what you have as a donor. Just the block will be an exercise in frustration. A complete donor boat is the best option. Many needed parts they you wouldn't think of

    starting problem with 3.0 mercruiser

My HF ones are dying slow deaths, as are my tape measures. Makes me sad that I might have to actually buy some at some point.

    2008 Tahoe Q5i 4.3 Mercruiser Engine

eBay or conversion to Delco. But unlikely cause in your case. TB V (if that's what you have) is tough to find.

    Wideband O2 sensor install

Took it out today and had my first mate check vacuum readings at different rpms. Af gauge working fairly consistently now except for occasional hiccups. As stated, I think it's sensitive to the 1v or so voltage fluctuations that I sometimes get at the helm. So most vacuum is 20 at idle. It...

    97 tracker party deck

You'll have to trace out the wires then. For sure you should have separate Nav and anchor lights, and a blower if I/O. Maybe one for radio as well. Do you have a working radio?

    97 tracker party deck

Sometimes, not usually. Sometimes there's an "always on" and one that only comes on if there's water.

    97 tracker party deck

No, you won't find anything useful. Flip the switches and see what happens. Nav lights, anchor light, blower (if I/O), radio?, bilge pump, instrument lights, are a few that they might be.

    Nola Mike is in Fl

Just saw this, didn't think @Scott Danforth would publicly admit to meeting me in person. He even sprang for the tacos and beer!

    Wideband O2 sensor install

Yeah I have the manual. I don't remember what I ended up with as far as combo. The secondaries do open, and then I see it really richen up. I know that my secondary jets are richer than stock, so need to go back down. The problem with a marine application vs auto is that there really isn't a...

    Odd shift cable fail

Bellows were dry. I thought that there might be some residual junk in there after it got dunked. There had been water in there at that time. The cable was perfectly smooth when I put the drive back on the other day, but it didn't resolve the problem.

    Odd shift cable fail

Post #3 is the resolve, no the SIS didn't fail. The failure was uneven spring tension on the plate, causing it to move much more easily in one direction than the other.
