Loss of a cylinder tohatsu 9.8

Has it done this just since you put the new plugs in, or was it doing it before and you put new plugs in but it is still doing it? I always try to put new plugs in a GOOD working engine, but then keep the OLD ones as spares. That way you have KNOWN GOOD spares. There's always a chance...

Honda BF75L starts, high revs but stalls out at idle

Is this a 7.5 HP or 75HP? Might sound like a silly question, but it seems like Honda used BF75 for both. Not sure if that's just and "older" vs "newer" thing or if there was some other methodology. If it's a 7.5HP, then it's probably very similar to my BF8A (8HP) and I had a very similar...

2021 Tohatsu 6hp on 12’ aluminum Jon boat running @ 6500 ft elevation

Looks like I can't edit my previous post, so I'll just repost it here with the fixes: Probably both. What prop do you have on there now? To expand a little bit... They run as lean as possible for emissions sake, so adding altitude offsets that to some degree. They also need to get up in...

2021 Tohatsu 6hp on 12’ aluminum Jon boat running @ 6500 ft elevation

DOH! You're right. I was thinking air density was dropping the fuel flow. I'll go back and fix my post (if I can) or repost.

2021 Tohatsu 6hp on 12’ aluminum Jon boat running @ 6500 ft elevation

Probably both. What prop do you have on there now? To expand a little bit... They run as lean as possible for emissions sake, so adding altitude only complicates that. They also need to get up in RPM to deliver that rated HP anyway, so if you can't get the RPM up with the load of the...

Converting Tohatsu 5hp to 6hp (4 Stroke) returns disappointing results.

Here's the thing. The "6HP" carb doesn't do ANYTHING to help the power of the engine over the vast range of RPM, EXCEPT when nearing the top. At 5400 RPM, with even a 6HP carb the engine is only going to develop about 5.3HP, so there's not much of an improvement over a 5HP carb. Getting the...

High pitch noise at low rpm

Not sure about the "high pitch" noise, but it seems nearer the end of the video when you (appeared to) put it in neutral and rev it a bit there was a racket of a noise that shouldn't be there. I suspect the shift linkage needs adjustment and that the clutch dogs were still slightly touching...

    Rectifier / Tohatsu Nissan NSF9.8A2

Ah so many questions!! When was the last time the motor was run? Give us some history of the motor, because we're starting from scratch here. Can you not pull start the motor because you can't pull it fast enough? Troubleshooting a 'no spark' condition usually starts with checking the...

    Rectifier / Tohatsu Nissan NSF9.8A2

The rectifier doesn't affect the ability of the motor to start or run, only its ability to recharge the battery. Does the electric-start crank the engine? Can you pull-start the motor?

    ignition problem??

What can get confusing is the ampacity of a wire vs the recommended wire size for a given current due to desired voltage drop. Ampacity is the maximum current carrying capacity of the wire, and it varies due to the type of insulation the wire has and where the wire is installed. If the wire...

    ignition problem??

According to the parts diagram for that motor, it is a 20A fuse.

    Help with my electrical system!!

The red wire from the engine should go to the COMMON on the switch. The "1" or "2" post on the switch should go to the POSITIVE post on the respective "1" or "2" battery, using a red wire. The other RED wires with fuses in them can also be connected to the COMMON, but there's a good chance at...

Nissan 5 hp 4 stroke, locked in reverse after reattaching shift linkage.

I think the cam rod moves about a full inch from fwd to rev, or 1/2 in from fwd to neutral then another 1/2 inch from neutral to reverse. Are you sure the cam rod is oriented the right way? The machined side of the rod should be facing towards the prop. If it's twisted to a different...

old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

If you look at the "unmodded" side, it should allow for 3800RPM in reverse. There definitely should be the ability in neutral or rev to accelerate some, just not full throttle. That mod allows you to increase from 3800 to 4400 in reverse.

old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

Put the engine in reverse. Loosen the carb linkage adjustment Loosen the shift cable by loosening the two nuts then move them close to the left in the pic, which will loosen the cable. You should be able to then move the throttle A LITTLE BIT. If it's too loose, then tighten the adjustment a...

old (unsure of year) Honda BF75 (7.5hp) outboard won't throttle in neutral or reverse

Look at the shift linkage and where the throttle linkage interacts with it. On my BF8, it is right in the front of the motor. You can see how the plate on the shift linkage moves out of the way of the throttle linkage so they throttle can open up fully in FWD, but blocks it partially in both...

    Stator

That crank seal could have definitely caused issues with starting and idling, as you'd be sucking in air there. Hard starting on a two-stroke is one indication of hardened or faulty crank seals. Your ignition may still need attention, but it might have run with a weak spark if the crank...

Outboard will only go into "Reverse" gear if propeller is in a certain position

Do yourself a favor. Go buy an impeller and put it in. That way, you'll know FOR CERTAIN when it was really changed and you'll avoid ruining a weekend because the engine started overheating and you can't find an impeller in stock locally.

New Tohatsu 3.5 HP (MFS3.5C) Won't start after it's warmed up.

Right there at the beginning of the sentence where it says "I'm wondering" means I don't know but there's a possibility. The OP could say (or even just think) "well, that doesn't apply to me" but if it did he'd have one more thing to check. Those tanks SHOULD relieve pressure if they're...

New Tohatsu 3.5 HP (MFS3.5C) Won't start after it's warmed up.

FIFY, but it doesn't sound like that's related to the OP's issue anyways with his internal tank.
