    Leaking water into cowl

Double checked torque specs. Head bolts are in inch pounds as well which converts to 18.5 ft pounds. If you don't have an inch pound wrench I would again do them maybe by feel. Not sure a inexpensive ft lbs wrench will be that accurate. Better to torque them though. Also, picture on head...

    2003 Evinrude 250 FICT - Stumped

I apologize, I missed that you had replaced all of the relays. I would guess that the neutral locater needs to be closed in order to make the starter engage...by pulling the wire you opened it. I keep thinking about that ground (kill wire) but electrical gremlins are tough. I hope someone has a...

    2003 Evinrude 250 FICT - Stumped

Ficht motors are tough. I wouldn't think the emm would shut down the starter but maybe. Others my might know. I would have thought neutral locater too or short somewhere. Have you tried jumping the starter when that condition exist?

So the starter won't crank correct? And if so you jiggle the handle and or wait awhile and then it will?

    Motor swap- wiring questions

Trim wires should be red, blue and green. Blue for sky (up) green for grass(down). Brown I believe is for temp....not sure your motor has that.

    Leaking water into cowl

For some reason I thought someone told you....if I can remember right, 18 to 20ft pounds on the head bolts and mechanics snug by feel on the jacket cover bolt. I think there 1/4 20 so not to tight. Snug, should be in inch pounds if you have that tool. Did you check head flatness?

    Johnson 1999 J25pl3eem 25hp 3 cyl

No spark obviously means electrical....you need to be more specific. Like after the 3 minutes I let it sit and then I can re-start it and it runs for 3 minutes again.

J150EXECD Looks like I need a new float?

Funny, the government with all their odd rules and regulations are supposed to keep the public safe but whomever is monitoring all the crap that is being built and sold on the open market is definitely a sleep at the wheel. I have never seen such non-usable trash sold on the open market.

Get gaskets, clean up head and water cover, read past posts about checking head for flatness and using sand paper to true up. Also, work slow to remove water cover bolts.

    Motor swap- wiring questions

I read this guy's post and then googled up omc wiring harness adapters old to new. There's a bunch of adapters but they are the opposite of what you want to do. When people upgraded their motors omc made it so they could adapt to the old box. So you could dig more and see if they sell one the...

    Motor swap- wiring questions

The remote control box with the red plug, (series 77) went from 1977 to 1995. Not sure if that other box will even work so I would at least find the color code diagram for each box. Alternative is to just buy a used red plug box.

Or it could be a crack in the head or block. Not aware of any other test but let's see if anyone else has an opinion, i may not be the best one to diagnose this one.

Didn't think so, remove them very carefully. If they won't go don't force them heat and time. Loosen a little, tighten a little. Hopefully they just come out in the begining.
