    4.3l Merc cruiser

Thanks for posting that...just ordered one. I can use it on my truck rebuild I'm doing right now, then I'll have it for the boat when I need it.

Alpha One Gen 1 Trim Switch contacts

Got any pics? I've got my transom assembly completely torn down, and I'd like to know how to test my trim sending unit / limit switch before putting it all back together. I could just buy new ones for peace of mind, but don't want to waste money if these are still good.

    Floor and Transom Rebuild

I'm sure 5200 would probably work, but it may be more expensive than some resin and cloth, and will likely take longer to cure...if either of those are a concern.

Bonding Polyester to Epoxy - Will this Work

Just do everything in poly. It's cheap, it's easy to work with, it cures faster so your project will move along faster, you can adjust the cure speed by how much catalyst you add, it's what your boat is already made of, it's what gelcoat is made of....the list of positives goes on.

    1990 225 sundowner

Yes, drill on the inside of the boat. If the shavings are good, just fill with 3M 4200 or 5200 and go boating.

You've done incredible work and worked at an incredible speed on this boat.

    1998 Bayliner Capri floor.

I ran the grinder with a 40-grit flap disc across my finger in January. It cut very deep, but it healed, but I don't think I'll ever have a finger print in that area any more. Be really careful with a grinder - it's really dangerous.

    Sealing wood for motor mounts.

I used resin and 1 layer of CSM between each layer to glue mine together, then cut to shape, round the edges, PB in place, and glass them in.

    Tearing down transom assembly

OK, I looked at the upper steering pin and thing I understand their design. The one zerk for the top bushing lubes the top bushing. Excess grease goes past the top bushing above the steering pin, down through the hollow inner diameter, and out through through the hole to lubricate the lower...

    Tearing down transom assembly

The only needle bearing I've found is at the bottom of the gimbal ring - it already has a zerk and passageway. Is there another one somewhere? I'm down for drilling through the case and bushing to put in a zerk if needed for the steering pin.

    Tearing down transom assembly

Ah, I see what you're saying. I'm pretty sure the steering pin is hollow and has a "port" to dispense grease to the lower bushing area. Did Mercruiser really design this with no way to grease the lower bushing on the upper steering pin? I'll have to look at the parts when I get home.

Circled it in green and drew an arrow - or were you talking about something else?

    Tearing down transom assembly

Yep. There is already one on my gimbal housing. Where do you see one missing?

    Tearing down transom assembly

Got my new gimbal bearing installed. It is the sealed kind...that's what came in the Quicksilver kit. I've still got the old one - it still feels good and is the kind with a hole so you can grease it. Not sure if pulling the old bearing out (by the inner race) damages it to the point I should...

Alpha One Gen 1 Shift Shaft Seal

@Kubaat3lover - I mocked it back up to show what I did to drive the old bushing out. I just hammered on the top of the threaded rod lightly and the bushing came right out.
