Mercarb 2BBL accelerator pump check ball

TanFS I know itrs not the Merc carb its the 2GC and is just there to see how one carb uses the check ball. With yours when the pump is moves down the check ball is under a spring and that keeps the pump from sucking air. Note the slot in the pump cylinder. This is where the pump gets fuel

Mercarb 2BBL accelerator pump check ball

The check ball is used in the accelerator pump circuit. It allows fuel to be sucked in, because without it the pump would be pushing fuel back n forth with no pressure. The gif below is for the 2GC and note how if works

    Mercruiser 5.0

The fuel pressure might be to high. Anything above 6 psi can cause the issue. Being a 1989 you should have 2 gaskets and one plate between pump and block. The thick gasket and plate reduces the stroke, and thereby reducing the pressure the pump puts out...

    Mercruiser 5.0

My opinion Sierra quality control is not the best. They build stuff in most cases like the OEM but not always exactly like the OEM. The stuff that won't meet OEM requirements are sold to aftermarket

Volvo Penta 3.0 GL WPS SLX 18 135 HP Replacement

The 3.0 is a industrial motor. Can install a truck motor but this would require to make new motor mounts. Could use a V6 or V8 but should not use any of the carb or electrical components like alternator, starter, distributor because they are not ignition protected

    1992 Mercruiser 3.0 acceleration issue

Several have replaced points with Pertronix and many have had trouble afterwards. Check to see if your coil is getting hot. Look at your plugs to see if their fouling out.

    eliminating steering play

Cable steering play will always be there but not that much. Most often there is 2 to 3 inches as measure on the outside of the helm. There is slight bit of play inside the helm gear box and the tiller arm and cable. Turn the helm and have someone else look at the tiller arm going to the out...

    RPM Gauges

About any of them will work. Tach's have settings on the back of the gauge to set for how many cylinders the motor has. The sync gauge also uses the Tach signal. I would start by determining who made the current gauges and see if they still make them, unless you want a different type then...
