Bayliner....no clearance to remove steering cable?

Disconnect cable from helm. Hoist motor up and back to remove cable from motor. Pull old cable out the stern. Buying a small engine hoist from HF or Northern tool or ebay for $99 - $179 would be cheaper than taking it to a shop, and a lot faster this time of year.

Mercury Carbureted vs Fuel injection timeline

And even with a 4 stroke, the exhaust chemical byproducts are dumped into the lake. Clearly not as much, but would you consider pumping your lawnmower exhaust through your kitchen faucet? It is what it is. The oil came from the earth and is returned to the earth.

    Please help,at my wits end

Yeah, the think/speak/auto type feature on my phone doesn't do well either. If it is leaking, sucking air into engine, it will be running lean, and cause high revs. With engine running, spray starting fluid around outside of carbs and manifold. If it sucks it in, revs should fluctuate. Motor...

    1988 Mercury 115

Its always a YES answer on changing the impeller. Good to know it is new and working, and its cheap. These motors do have an overheating history. They do not have a thermostat, max cooling water flow needed at all times. OH, a quick note on the forums..... Its very hard to detect voice...

    Electric start issue.

Use a set of jumper cables to supply power directly to the starter. If that works, then test the starter solenoid, see if it has power, and if it is getting signal to fire the solenoid to start the motor. If thats good, then check back side of ignition switch for power, and continuity from...

Tracker used several engine manufacturers over the years to make motors for them and put the Tracker name on them. A serial number may help.

    Trolling motors on ski boats

Why would you want one there? rear mounted will give terribly poor performance on a boat of that size. If you need one, get one that mounts to the outdrive, above the main prop..

    Loaded pontoon cavitation

"when heavily loaded" If most of the weight is forward on the deck, can be lowering the front and raising the rear compared to lightly loaded operation. Try having the people all shift back to midship or further, and see if problem goes away.

    Where to mount my transducer?

First of all, it looks like the boat is too far forward on the trailer. Appears the boat has rolled/fallen forward of the roller on the port side, and is about to on the starboard side. So adjust the trailer and move the boat back 1.5 - 2" Then mount the transduce directly behind the roller.

Intermittent Trim issue - late 80s Mercury 115

Is this an inline 6 cylinder motor? Some of those still used solenoids to activate the trim motor. There are a lot of wires connected to the solenoids. Make sure all are tight including the grounds.
