    1999 7.4mpi fuel pump issue?

The fuel pump is working so the relays are working. If the pump had trouble turning ON, then first thought would be swap the two. One is Main Power Relay (MPR) the other is FP Having low pressure would not be a relay problem

    Carb or worse?

If you can find one at that price and its a quality rebuild, go for it. A reman goes for around 2500. If its a good running motor out of another boat, that to is good

    Carb or worse?

No way to know without looking. Head removal is easy enough and while doing it the exhaust can be looked at. Might just need a head gasket

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI Bravo 3 overheat 5 minutes after starting it up.

If you connect the hose to the bottom of the check balls and water goes up and comes out past the ball, then it will keep water from going to the motor, and it will get to hot.

    1999 7.4mpi fuel pump issue?

Coming up as an L29 Fuel pressure should be 43 psi running, and 28 would give it a lot of issue to run. Just wouldn't get enough fuel The 60 to 70 psi spike would give me the thought that the Regulator would be first suspect. Could remove the Reg and test it with air to see when it opens The...

Then its the thermostat housing, the thermostat, Cir pump or those check balls. Take the large hose off the Cir pump and serpentine belt off pulley. Then take a stiff wire and get it up inside where the vanes are on the pump. See if you can hold the pump vanes and still turn the pump pulley...

Your motor did not use a shift plate, it mounted all the components to the top of the valve cover. Note all the stud locations. If unable to mount it there, as before it could be mounted in other locations. Could even use some aluminum strap metal from the hardware store. Make a bracket for...
