    Sound like you have some stuck/dirty recirc valves or pressure fitting is not bleeding off. Had a lot of problems with em in the late 80's.

    Post a pic of these positive pressure ports. Is the oiler still in operation?

    As stated earlier probes not the problem as they are reading but cleaning wont hurt, might make em react faster. Check the seal behind poppet valve as problem is water pressure too low. Either a problem in impeller area (torqued to tight warping housing) or powerhead.

    A 2.5L cannot run without t-stats, goes for Opti ,Carb or EFI. If t-stats are removed you must run restricting washer in place of t-stat. Must have a 3/16 opening or it will get hot at idle as water flows to fast thru block. Also check the stainer in adapter plate as this cools compressor

    What is the flow from water indicator?(peetube) It wont hurt to clean temp sensor but thats not your problem.

    This is the way I fix units that customers have dinked....The speedo passway makes a 90° turn and comes out top of gearcase thru fitting for speedo tube. Drain and remove gearcase, degrease speedo passage, take paper towel balls and push to rear of drilled hole, mix JB Weld thinned with acetone...

    Should just be able to take a Allen wrench set and unscrew plug. Apply PTFE to last of sensor threads and screw in 3/4 of length, If fully inserted it will bottom out on steel mesh of filter giving alarm
