Power loading on to trailers - Pay the price!

Re: Power loading on to trailers - Pay the price! Ok guys, stop calling a reservoir, a lake. Please. If it has a 100 yd ramp, and the level fluctuates by more than 6 feet, it is likely not a lake. Ok, here is what I did, looks a little crude, but first time with a plasma cutter. I have an...

    Safety chain for winch

Re: Safety chain for winch Many trailers use thin chains with an s hook. I use a hook and a couple links of chain from a trailer hitch safety chain, 2000# rated. I run the safety chain down to the tongue with a turnbuckle, as suggested here on iboats. I believe JB was the first member I...

    Forward gear

Re: Forward gear If you indeed have an L-drive, I can't really help you. I have only seen a few, and never worked on them. They are relatively rare, and were only made for 3-4 years. An l-drive is in the photo below, the drive exits the hull on the bottom, not the back.

Re: Launching and loading by yourself? All the more reason to install a second bow eye. One for the winch strap, one for the safety chain.

    Cowel removal

Re: Cowel removal cr2k has it right. Entire top cowl is one solid piece of aluminum. The latch assembly is in the rear. See the little wing that extends to the rear, on each side. Look on the inside lower edge of the wing. There is a latch that swings downward. There is one on each side...

    Craigslist ad posting issue.

Looking to post a "wanted" ad on CL. Want to post it in several cities within driving distance, to get the extra exposure. After I post the first ad, CL tells me the ad is similar to another ad, and won't let me post it. Sometimes it will let me post the ad if I change a few words, or the...

    What Are They Called?

Re: What Are They Called? I like, and have used these, available at most retailers that sell boat covers. They are adjustable, mine are made of oak. I doubt that plywood would work, for long. Needs to flex so the wooden bow can hold the cover up, about a foot. And needs to be strong enough to...

    Need Center console throttle assembly

Re: Need Center console throttle assembly Wow, thats a narrow boat for a center console. Cables and wiring harness are going to stick out of the rear of the controls. They will not exit the side and enter the console, at least I have never seen any that will. Here are some photos of how my...

    Homemade Grab bar ideas

Re: Homemae Grab bar ideas Re: Homemae Grab bar ideas Can't imagine any way you are going to screw/anchor this to the hull of a small aluminum hull. It will likely snap off, or bend. Perhaps, maaaaybe, if you could attach to the floor, then up and over to the gunnel. But I don't see that...

    Removing bench seats

Re: Removing bench seats Yes, the seats are structural. Try to come up with a plan that will replace the lost support. Think storage locker, livewell, rod storage, something that will brace the sides and preferably extend the width of the boat. Also remember to replace the flotation foam...
