Several Question about safety kill switches

Forget the wireless kill switch Kill switch on your motor is connected between the purple wire coming from the ignition key switch and going to the motor. When the kill switch opens up it removes power to the coil. This pic is showing how to bypass the switch, you just need to add one

Do I need an engine cutoff switch for shifting?

The EST distributor has 12V applied when it goes to shift into neutral. Use the purple wire which supplies power to the coil or electric choke and connect to one side of the distributor To set timing the distributor needs to be put into base timing mode. Disconnect switch and jumper the...

Water in cylinder of my 2011 Mercruiser 3.0 MPI EC

Just remembered the motor was partially sunk in salt water. If water got into the harness or connectors there could be all kinds of gremlins which would keep showing up. The wire in second pick would not be a harness ground, it would go to another accessory which may not have been installed...

water leak behind and below the engine when running on miffs 3.0

I think it rusted out, can see the edges of what's left of the plug and appears to be steel. Check the ones on the block and see if they are brass. Could be someone replaced the block and used steel plugs. Clean it up and fill it up to see if there is other leaks.

    Swapping a 1.65 ratio for a 2.0?

Not understanding so what I'm saying is both the 2.0 and 1.65 uses the same gears in the upper section 24/24 gears. The ratio is changed in the lower. The 2.0 uses 14/28 gears and the 1.65 uses 13/21 gears. If you are using your same lower, either upper (yours or other one mentioned) then you...

    Fuel Fill well back valve

Don't know what a spit back valve is but the take will have a vent line attached which gas can spit back if not installed correctly. Note the vent line should have no loops in it where gas can get trapped in it. If gas gets trapped there will be no place for the air to come out. My Rinker...

Could someone please help me with this V-Drive

Replacing parts is easy enough to explain, doing it takes some work. Before getting into that, why does the rudder need replacing? Pulling the prop takes removing the carter pin, remove nut and then need a prop puller. There are different sizes and depends on size of shaft and prop. An...

    Maximum trailer tongue length?

I have not, but it must be true because the police have said it is, then that is the way it is. Suggest contacting NJ DMV or who ever does boat/trailer licensing and ask for the regulation. The reg should state what is expected/needed Thinking the trailer is like a long Tee, maybe it just...

    Mercruiser alignment issues

If the transom plate is at an angle and not parallel within 1/8 (2mm) to outer surfaces, this will keep it from aligning within spec. When installing motor, was the rear bolts installed snug, motor lifted up off front mounts just bearly hanging from the thermostat housing. Then lower front...

Can't get starboard engine to run after a bunch of work.

Agree check power at the coil in run Also disconnect the shift interrupter switch just to rule it out if it is casing any problems. The switch should not be the issue, but disconnect it just to remove a piece out of the equation
