    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, this sounds like what I have on the Mercruisers. The electronics tell the hydraulics what to do. I saw some product information on Optimus 360 (3rd party joystick solution) that they now have an electric steering actuator, which replaces the hydraulic...

    Solar charging batteries

I have a question for clarity purposes. You have stated the battery voltage slowly increasing to the high 11 volt range. You have also stated the charger in the 14.4-14.5 volt range. Are the readings of the battery being taken while that charger is disconnected? Are the readings of the...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Next steps will be . . . continue pulling the engine control wiring remove remaining items from transom paint remover on transom order material for building the extension pod (Coosa, VE resin, 1708, CSM, etc.) The admiral will be clearing out space in the garage to stage/store the engines out...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Because, that's why :ROFLMAO: It eliminates the hydraulic system for steering . . . I'm sure there are "pros & cons"

All electric steering is fairly new, but probably what you get these days. I’d prefer it vs combo hydraulic

Running New Style Merc 6.2L DTS on a Pallet ???

I'm also going to see if the Diacom software has some sort of test run mode that would simplify what needs to be connected.

Running New Style Merc 6.2L DTS on a Pallet ???

I might have seen that same video . . . Might be the older styIe, I'll have to go back and look.

Running New Style Merc 6.2L DTS on a Pallet ???

My understanding is that little of the Mercruiser stuff is workable with the outboards . . . besides, my stuff is 10 years old, I'm sure there are updates to these components since then. As such, I figure it is best to send all the DTS stuff with the engines and get new with the outboards.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Transom assemblies are out . . . . I drilled into the side of one of the 'keyholes' to see what the transom core material is . . . . A foam of some sort. Medium gray in color . . . drills fairly easily. Might be Divinycell. I suspect the stringers are the same core material.

Running New Style Merc 6.2L DTS on a Pallet ???

Thanks guys. I have videos of them running in the boat. I am just anticipating if someone want to see them running after they were pulled.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Transom Assembly Removal Day . . . I took the engine mounts out and have done one of the transom assemblies. Here are some pictures of the 'fun' . The Y-Pipe looks as if it was new . . . The internal plate looks pretty good too. . I got the engine mounts cleaned up . . . gotta love...

Running New Style Merc 6.2L DTS on a Pallet ???

I've got Two Mercruiser 2016 vintage 6.2L 350 HP (CAT) DTS engines that I will be sending off to a good home at some point. I anticipate needing to run these engines on their pallets at some point (testing, demonstration, compression test, etc). I've run carburated engines out of the boat...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Question Du Jour . . . I anticipate needing to run these Mercruiser engines out of the boat, on thier pallets at some point. . . Probably to sell them (demonstrate, compression tests, etc.) Old style engines were easy (relatively speaking), but these engines are DTS (digital steering & shift)...

    93 Mariah engine mount

Everything looks 'chopper gun' in those pictures. Might be best to re-build it as much as you can. I have seen situations where a person did a patch job, because the rest "did not look too bad" . He had to go back a couple of years later, because the "not too bad" was now rotted. Do it once...

    Cruiser comparison

It is actually better to have reasonably clam seas for the sea trials as the surveyor will want to run the boat at WOT at some point to get the maximum RPM and speed. Check engine temperatures with an IR thermometer, etc. All these things are better to do in calmer conditions. During the sea...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

There is some wood in it. . . Bulkheads . . . but not sure about the rest. I'll be getting a look at the transom when the transom assemblies are out.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Oh, and another thing . . . I'm going to fix the several limber holes in the stringers. As they are, they sit up about 1" from the hull surface and as such trap an inch of water in places they shouldn't.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I got 4 more mover's dollies at HF today. Then spent a little bit of time disassembling stuff in the engine bay (mostly wiring) and taking some of the ancillary items out of the boat. Lots of labeling of wires and hoses . . . and oooppps! I accidentally cut the depth sounder wire to the...
