Help Identifying Cooling Hose Part Number

Found it after scanning multiple Volvo diagrams. One thing I've learned is that carbureted engines have the power steering cooler upstream of the raw water pump, whereas EFI engines have the power steering cooler, and fuel reservoir (cooler), downstream of the raw water pump. The initial part...

Your intake manifold cover should say multi-port EFI, if it’s like mine.

Help Identifying Cooling Hose Part Number

I want to replace the U-shaped cooling hose in the image below (#17) that's between the fuel reservoir and the power steering cooler on my OMC 5.0 EFI motor (see signature for part number). Unfortunately, the parts number given for #17 is for a different hose (oil cooler to gimbal). The ID of...

What was Causing this Clunking Sound? Binding Brakes?

You shouldn't have trapped pressure in the system like that. There is something wrong with your actuator, or coupler; either it's not fully extending or there is a blockage internally. I would lubricate all the moving parts in your coupler and see if it moves freely, then also bleed the brakes...

    Starter extension/stand-off nut and bolt

If the threads stop before a nut can bottom out, as illustrated in the picture, you'll need a metal spacer of some sort to ensure good clamping loads on the ring connectors. I think any spacer or washer will do. I would spray the terminal after tightening everything with CorrosionX, Boeshield...

    Rapid Outdrive Anode Loss

Yes. The boat is salt water only using zincs. @Lou C , I'll check that out. Thanks!

Volvo Penta SX-M ?- no water to raw water pump

He has an OMC Cobra SX drive, which is the joint venture with Volvo and the same as the Volvo SX-M drive. There is no pump in the drive, like older OMC drives. @Tahoe Mike, First, I would backflush the entire system to clean out the impeller debris. Disconnect both hoses from the pump, and...

    Rapid Outdrive Anode Loss

Thanks guys. I'm slipped in a marina with shore power with other boats using Volvo zincs. Thank goodness I can remove the props and access the zincs from the swim step.

    Rapid Outdrive Anode Loss

I'm finding that the anodes on our Volvo 290DP drives are being consumed in about four months, while slipped in saltwater. Is typical for these drives? The previous owner of the boat had painted hull anti-fouling paint right up to the drive transom mounts, which we stopped adding to for the...

    Motor out of alignment

Yes, a motor out of alignment will wear out the gimbal bearing.

    Oil level too high?

I have the same situation on my boat. It doesn't take the listed amount of oil to get to the full mark. Four quarts is slightly over full, whereas the manual says five quarts. When you check the oil, look at both sides of the dip stick. Mine will also show way over full on one side, but I...

Changing a Bimini cleat Ventura 19

I picture would help. There are likely nuts behind the fiberglass. Can you get behind it?

Reverse works at low RPM but ‘slips out’ with throttle

I would take the back over off the outdrive and confirm it is shifting fully into reverse when the control handle is moved to reverse. If it does fully move to reverse at the back of the drive, then you have an issue (worn cone clutch, etc) internal to the drive. If it isn't going fully into...

    Possible hydro lock?

I wouldn't start the motor without changing the oil first. Definitely pull the plugs now and run the starter to get as much water out of the cylinders as you can. If you have an electric fuel pump, pull the relay. Put a towel over the spark plug holes as it will spray out and make a mess...

    Exhaust flappers

Leave them off. Lots of successful boaters out there without them. Try to avoid slamming the throttle to idle when on plane and you'll be successful also.

    Spindle pitting or discoloration?

What's not clear in the pictures is the condition of the spindle where the rear seal rides. Is this smooth or is there pitting. If there's pitting, you should consider Speedi-sleeves to repair it. Went through this on my trailer.
