    Conversion

Volvo used to use Holley carbs after the Rochester went out of production, so it might be easier to deal with the throttle cable hook ups, fuel line etc. Take a look at parts diagrams to see what you'd need. If you can get a cast iron spread bore intake, the Holley 4175 is made for that...

    mercruiser 4.3 thermostat housing

My OMC like all OMC/Volvos has the cold set up, I scoped the elbows with an inspection camera this fall and could see that on the starboard side (runs slightly hotter) there was no evidence of condensation, on the port side (runs slightly cooler) there was slight evidence of condensation, but...

    1988 Rogue 2420

The guy at the local marina who drops my mooring tries to locate it so that I'm in at least 5 feet of water at low tide. If it's 5 at low it's 11-12' at high.... Now where my brother keeps his boat, it's like 2.5' at low, I advised him to try to get out about 3 hrs before high tide and return...

Deep Cycle Battery not good for starting??

On the other hand is your charging system actually putting out what it should be?

Deep Cycle Battery not good for starting??

As long as the DC battery has enough capacity for starting the engine it can be used and you’d think a gp 27 is plenty big for starting a 115 outboard…

Deep Cycle Battery not good for starting??

To start a 115 outboard I would think the smallest I’d go is a gp 24 dual purpose or starting battery…. I have 2 dual purpose gp 27 marine batteries on my boat and they start the boat very easily and the 55 amp alternator has no trouble keeping them charged…

Advice on Removal of manifold Mercruiser.

If the rubber exhaust are really stuck which can happen if there was a past overheat you can CAREFULLY heat them with a heat gun monitoring the temp with an IR temp gun, about 125* is hot enough. The double clamps are normal; this prevents leaks due to engine vibration & movement.

Mercruiser 888 (302) Cylinder Head swap?

There is a cyl head rebuilding outfit local to me called Machine World NY. I got a pair of GM 4.3 V6 heads from them when I needed to replace the heads on my old 4.3. Worked out well for me. Might consider calling them &see what they advise….

Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI with DPS-A - actuator play

OK I watched your vid a few times and there seems to be more of a delay between the time the control valve moves and the steering arm actually moves, I am not sure though if this is typical for the unit that Volvo used on these. On my much older set up (Bendix control valve with external fluid...

    Mercruiser power steering ball stud

Just give it a few pumps with your fingers on the rubber boot, when you feel it bulging a bit stop! You don’t want to over grease this; it can blow the internal seals inside the unit. BTW this control unit was made by Bendix & used on Corvettes (63-83) and many unibody Fords (Falcons, Mustangs...

    Mercruiser power steering ball stud

If I’m thinking of the same thing the ball stud on these will move freely with the engine off and will feel more firmly in place with the engine running & the P/S pump pressurizing the system. The older ones had a grease fitting for the ball stud that just needs a few pumps of grease yearly not...

Mercruiser 888 (302) Cylinder Head swap?

I would think a safer plan would be to have yours redone by an automotive machine shop if they are in good enough shape for it to make sense.

I wonder when they started using those capacity plates. My '88 definitely has one.

80th Anniversary of the Battle of The Bulge

If not us all of Western Europe would be either Russian or German. Most likely Russian at the cost of millions of lives. The Western Europeans are good at starting wars and lousy at ENDING them!

Please be safe and don't forget to use your venting blower when fueling.

Better yet install a gas vapor detector and inspect your entire fuel system each year! Always sniff before flipping on the blower! Your nose is more sensitive than a gas vapor detector

    V-P 5.7 Gxi intake on 383 stroker?

That divorced choke will only work on a Pre Vortec with the internal exhaust crossover in the intake manifold. Modern Holley and Edelbrock carbs come with electric chokes.

    V-P 5.7 Gxi intake on 383 stroker?

What you need to do as far as detonation is: carefully check and verify total timing advance to make sure it isn't too advanced for your engine.... verify that your fuel mixture is not too lean... make sure that the boat is not over-propped, better to prop it to the top end of the manufacturers...
