    blackmax 200hp 1989 problems

yeah, '89 could be either one... if its still got tha idle stab. i'd chunk it... disconnect tha regulator jus for testin'.... i'd start with tha rectifier.. that "should" clear up tha tach problem.... ya need ta test stator and trigger.... back fire would lead me mostly to tha trigger... jmo.

    blackmax 200hp 1989 problems

does it have tha 16 or 40 amp stuff on it? a back fire usually involves timin' in some form or another.. erratic tach usually involves either rectifier and or regulator.. if its a 40 amp motor both will be in one unit... tha big water cooled thingy under tha coils.....

99 mercury 150 XR 6 warning system not self testing

    Mercury 150 xr2 bored .040

JMO... anytime ya go .030 or more ya need a very good mech or you need ta be able to read piston top and/or spark plugs.. there is a reason merc doesn't offer anything over .030 pistons (2.0 motors only), everything else steel is .015..... like said, JMO.

99 mercury 150 XR 6 warning system not self testing

no initial "test" beeps?.. check for power (key on) on tha purple that goes to tha oiler module.. ground tha tan/blue at tha plastic term block that goes into tha harness to test buzzer.. if buzzer sounds it says circuit is good.. if you have power on purple going to tha module more than likely...
