87 50HP VRO Evinrude - Could this be my problem?

Okay...not sure what all that means but lots of stuff you put out is over my head. I'll see if I can play around with it but my phone already has been taken over by AI. In fact recently it was wrong and I filed some business taxes incorrectly. I have a bone to pick with Mr AI! 🤣

87 50HP VRO Evinrude - Could this be my problem?

I have one and it works ok. I tried to extend the wire once and it didn't work. Mine goes out a little but works well enough to give me the information I need.

87 50HP VRO Evinrude - Could this be my problem?

Seems like it but once you understand it it's not. What's hard is doing and being right on is more difficult. Sometimes it takes me more than once. You can do it...trust me

    Replacing Motor mounts

You should post the video of how to do the front one for others to see. Yes, rear ones are tough...I know of no videos on the rear, hopefully someone has one.

    Johnson GT Ocean Pro

Well I should probably apologize then...never heard of a 11.2 kw cross-referencing a HP rating. And you are correct, reading the model number I would call that a 10 or actually a 9.9 because that was the "I don't have to register this boat" clause. So new one to me. I have a GT 100....what's...

    Johnson GT Ocean Pro

You can't take a 10 and derate it to a 15....you can derate a 15 to a 10 though. Can a 10 be made into a 15? Yes, with different terminology. As marked, your motor is a 10 unless it's been modified. Why do you care? Just curious.

1990 50 hp Johnson reed valves

They don't like you bringing old threads back. Also, most people don't report back from a problem over a year ago. Start a new thread describing what is wrong and what you have read and lots of good people will reply. It's an easy mistake it's just against TOS.

1996 ev 25 hp 2 stroke not peeing

I have that motor....interesting pump on that, in fact we had someone a year or so ago that had a super hard time ordering the right pump kit. Seems the info on some part sites are incorrect. For me, buying any JohnnyRude outboard parts I go OEM first....then Sierra if I can't find in the oem...

87 50HP VRO Evinrude - Could this be my problem?

Wet or dry would give indications on where to look I had originally notice that you weren't setting the high idle before starting so possibly a flooding condition or spark is your problem. Spark plugs can tell a story.

87 50HP VRO Evinrude - Could this be my problem?

Have you tried pumping the primer ball when this condition exists? What do your spark plugs look like when all this is happening?

    1980 evinrude no water

Take the male barbed adapter off off the block that the tell tale hose goes to. Start it ...if it's still dry and you think the impeller and kepper key is in correctly then your most likely plugged up somewhere.

1988 Johnson 70hp - VRO or not to VRO?

Yeah, an old employee of mine went north and became an operator for Chevron up there, equipment and trucks could never be shut off outside.

Sometimes people don't read the dates. Just start a new thread listing your motor model number, what the problem is and what you've read. Best way to get information.

Silliest Question on Fuel Mix - Thank you for your patience

And once again this thread also demonstrates that old school mechanics are set in their ways. I know they have bushings...and I also know that 24 to 1 is lots of oil. Much much better oil. Again, I stand by my statement that kbait gives excellent advice and I'm sure he's done it. Of the...

    1989 Johnson TJ50TLCEC No Spark

Rectifier converts ac to DC power to charge the battery...running it unhooked will fry it. It does not affect it's ability to run though. You need a DVA adapter to test correctly but if everything checks out ohm wise replace the pack as directed.

Silliest Question on Fuel Mix - Thank you for your patience

Kbait's original suggestion will work fine. Never seen him give out any bad advice. With today's oils, I'm running all my older 2 strokes with less than their original suggested oil ratios with 0 failures. This boat, with it's 1985 30 HP johnson, I've been running 75/1 for 3 years. Not...
