    Towing friends boat damage

It still comes down to the Driver doing the Towing to make sure the Coupling is serviceable and secure before Driving away, as all Liability will rest on him/her

1978 Johnson 140hp running rough. Need advice

Premium Gas has a lower BTU Value per Volume than Regular Gas, plus, it burns slower. Unless the Engine is requires Premium, you can end up less Power and poorer Gas Mileage, plus Higher Operating Costs

How can I make my Tracker 40 HP faster?

That is why a lot of us Ask if the Spark will jump a 3/8" or 7/16" Gap. Air is an Insulator, and the Denser it is, the better of an Insulator it is, and the Voltage required to Jump the Gap increases.

changing from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel carburetor

A 22 ft is a lot of Boat for a 4.3. Myself I wouldn't use anything smaller the Big Block in a boat that Size. That said... Tops out at 4200 Rpm. What is the WOT range for your Engine, I mean the WOT range that was Specified for it in 1989? A 4.3 is not going to need a lot of CFMs. At 4200 rpms...

How do I get that last inch?

The Winch Strap, even though it is Twisted is Exiting at a good Angle, mainly because it is unwinding from the Bottom of the Winch Reel. However that is not how the Previous Photo had it. There it appeared to be unwinding from the Top. From this Angle, the Boat appears to be against the Bow...

How do I get that last inch?

When I took delivery of my Boat the Trailer was set up this way, it was to be reconfigured The way I had them adjust it. Move the Boat, and Bunks forward which required the Axle to be relocated too. Had Supports for the Front of the Bunks added. Had them swap the Trailer Tongue end for end...

I've seen a few on the V6s, likely because the Gear is not continuous, and had a Split that has to be lined up, and secured, but not on the inline Loopers. Using Nylon for the Drive Gear was probably done to reduce Noise

The Engineers that designed the Oil Premixing System did a Good Job on it. The Pump Gears are just above the Lower Crank Bearing so they are always well Lubricated, even if the Lower Bearing Seal leaks a bit.

How do I get that last inch?

I had a dealer rig a Trailer up like that, where the Strap was aimed down and under the Bow Stop. The Trailer I had, did have a lot of Adjustability, I was able to change the Angle of the Stand so the Winch Cable came off the Drum and was lined up with the Bow Eye, and was Parallel to the...

Engine, Carb or Prop? need suggestions or ideas please.

I have a 5.7 in my 18 1/2 footer(in my Avatar). It is adequate, but for any boat bigger, I would be getting more displacement. You can get more hp out of a Small Block, Cam changes, but that mores the Torque Curve into Higher Rpm ranges, and kills the Low End Torque where you need it, especially...

Engine, Carb or Prop? need suggestions or ideas please.

I would consider a Big Block, more Torque, attaining Horsepower at lower Rpms.

    85hp Merc?

Rule of Thumb for years has been 1 mph for every 5hp Increase. I also factored that your 50hp was Crank Rated, and the 70hp was likely Prop Rated. so I added a bit to the estimate. If both engines were rated the same way, the increase would be about 4 mph. The 70 is a Larger Displacement, so it...
