    Prop problem

If the Blades Flex, the Magnitude is very small, in the range of Fractions of a Millimeter. Put a Pair of Vise Grips on an Aluminium Blade, and see how much Flex you get...

    Prop problem

If there is any flexing of the Blade it is likely in the Range of 1/100" on an Aluminiun Prop. That bit about Blade Flex has sold Hundreds of Thousands of SS Props

    Spark Plug suggestions!

That was they were speced for. Back then there wasn't a Conventional Alternate. Use of a Conventional Plug actually alters the Ignition Timing Slightly by placing the point of ignition closer to the Piston. I like the Surface Gap Plugs and had a Set last over 14 yr at about 600hr on them, and...

    Cars you should have kept.

Hmm, it rode like a Car should, the 455 could move it fairly well, especially if the Factory 2.56:1 rear axle was changed to a 2.73 or 2.93. Mine had the Heavy Duty Brake Option. 1969--85hp Starflite, model 85993E possible carb swap?

I'm partial to NGK. The ones that came in my 1984 115 Merc, were still in it, with about 600hrs on them when I traded it in in 1998. As for Champion, I wouldn't them even if a Gun where to my head, unless there was no other choice

    Johnson CD-12 5.5HP

There is nothing that grounds the Ignition as the Throttle is turn to stop. It is simply the Retarded Spark that Kills the Motor. Go over your work again. Is there a chance you have shorted the Points to Ground?
