    3.0 exhaust manifold over heats

While I have never run into it, there have been cases where the vanes of the raw water impeller have broken off and got jammed in cooling passages. People have also plumbed in a short section of clear tubing to watch water flow and or air bubbles.

    Affordable scan tool

I think I would be worried if the code got interrupted correctly. The Diacom scanning tool is not inexpensive but not crazy high priced either.

Looking for my first boat and dwelling too much on the I/O vs Outboard question...

I would look around at local boat launches and see what people have. Around salt water in Delaware it's mostly outboard. Hard to find people who will work on I/O. I think rivers and lakes maybe be a slightly different story with a highed percentage of I/O and inboards. The new 4 cycle...

    Vetus bow thruster joystick replacenent

Just thought I would provide this information on the Vetus joysticks for the Vetus bow thruster. Since I had to work through it. If you have a several years old Vetus joystick the gray wire from the joystick provides +12V when the joystick is "turned on". The gray wire may or may not be used...

    Rusty engine pulleys

What are people doing when they come across a rusty engine pulley that is likely sanding down the serpentine belt. The PS pulley and circulation pump pulley seem to be the real rust ones on my engine.

    Power Steering Pump Replacement

While not necessary easy to find you may find a place that will rebuild your pump. You may find the Volvo Penta OEM very expensive. I found a place that rebuilds the raw water pumps. And sells the parts to rebuild them. So maybe other places that do PS pumps.

    Pressed-in Zerk grease fittings

If you are careful and don't pull out a pressed-in one why would you need to remove & replace?

    Pressed-in Zerk grease fittings

When I checked for the spec'ed hole size for self taping Zerk fittings it's smaller the the hole size for the pressed-in ones. I will tap in replacement Zerk fittings. And get a grease gun coupler with a lever to release. I am really saying why didn't the manufacturer spend the extra money...

    Pressed-in Zerk grease fittings

I have LoadRite trailer that's only a few years old and when I went to lube the hubs and surge brake actuator a could of pressed-in grease fittings pulled out Trailer is well built and not cheap, why couldn't they have used threaded Zerk grease fittings. The hubs are Knott. The surge brake...

    Volvo diagnostic port

Odd things happen. I have a 2011 boat, transom assembly and outdrive but the long block was replaced under warranty with the then current model in 2012. I think most of the FWC was moved from old engine to new engine. It took a bit of work but I did get mine registered with Volvo Penta.

Raw water pump seal on 2012 V8 5.7L

The The VP pump has a slightly different size inlet than outlet. These seem to look the same diameter. Could not find in the specs where diameters were listed.

Raw water pump seal on 2012 V8 5.7L

This is the raw water pump. It's a 2011 boat with the engine replaced under warranty in 2012 and I believe some parts from original engine were bolted onto new engine. Engine is FWC.

Raw water pump seal on 2012 V8 5.7L

I see some dripping from the raw water pump after shutting down the engine. I was hoping it was the O-ring for the outer housing but the sealing area of the outer housing looked fine as did the O-ring. So now I think it's the shaft seal. Hopefully the leaking seal has not allowed damage to...
