    Looking for replacement heat exchanger

Get a new heat exchanger at Lenco Coolers. Or MrCool. You could have internal damage in the heat exchanger. I would not bother with the old heat changer.

SX-A tilt / trim pump replacement tips?

I just hope it's marine rated. Anything in the bilge like a relay or electric motor needs to be marine rated. Otherwise some gas fumes in the bilge and boom.

Alarm sound when turning the key - starter does not work.

If your boat has a fuel pump it almost certainly has (or had when manufactured) a neutral safety switch. It would have to be really really old boat you with a mechanical fuel pump before the government required them. Take a short piece of wire and go from the red battery cable going to the...

Alarm sound when turning the key - starter does not work.

It looks like the yellow wires coming out of the shift control is the neutral safety switch. And the yellow going into the starter solenoid. If moving the shift control a tad forward and a tad back does not help then start at the yellow wire going to the ignition switch and move along to the...

Alarm sound when turning the key - starter does not work.

Typically an alarm sounds when starting the engine as there is no oil pressure. Almost certainly the boat has a neutral safety switch that prevents from starting the engine unless the shift is in neutral. If you already have the shift in neutral try turning the key to start and moving the...

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

Use 15W40 oil. Shell Rotella T is a favorite of many. No need for synthetic as most people put on less than 50 hours a summer. Riser is also called exhaust elbow. You want the exhaust to leave the engine area pretty high up with respect to the bottom of the boat. So an exhaust elbow or...

    Seller says exhaust bellows torn

There can also be situations where the seller is not all that knowledgeable and while there may be things that are broken, the seller is not aware. Some people who do surveys are knowledgeable about the boat systems but not about the engine or outdrive. If I was buying a used boat with an...

    Seller says exhaust bellows torn

The exhaust bellows being torn is no big deal. You can run with a damaged exhaust bellows. But there are lots of other things that could be damaged. The only way to really check out the outdrive is to pull the outdrive, check the u-joints and drain the gear oil looking for metal. If I was...
