    Yup that is probably the cheapest carb kit you found and they are nothing but trouble. hopefully you did not force that in the hole, because more than likely the threads are wrong. Sideview shows 2 different threads.

    They went to the bigger pump on everything later in the 80s or early 90s. usually used a reducing T on the smaller engines. a cost cutting measure I think.

    Easiest thing is to find a garbage can that is big enough to put the water 6" above the pump. The intake is above the prop on those.

    Make sure the wires are in the right spot and try changing the spark plug wires around.

    water needs to be above the split in the lower unit. how much throttle are you giving it? have no idea what a compression bubble is.

    They make a rebuild kit for those. Easy to do just watch out for the little springs. Pretty sure this is it. Stay away from the cheap chinese $20 ones they are nothing but trouble. A factory pump is $170 the rebuild kit is $16 0393088

    Push the small lever up just until you feel friction. Push key in while starting. Be prepared to push the small lever down if it starts and takes off. May be some trial and error to find the right setting. If the small lever is up you should not be able to shift.

    it looks like an 83 model. look on the transom bracket for a tag. Otherwise look on the powerhead near the head for a silver disc with #s on it

    Could be the bolt is to long for the torque tab. Threads in the torque tab are junk. Needs to be fixed.
