    1986 starcraft 170hp mercruiser.

Looks like a shortcut button for trailer position added by boat mfr. I think one of my dads boats had that like that. It was an 83 imperial with a 470. That switch always worked but sometimes had to cross the relay to lower the drive. He never fixed as the 470 blew a gasket before he had the...

    1986 starcraft 170hp mercruiser.

He says 86 which should not have buttons on the dash. They would be on the lever

    1986 starcraft 170hp mercruiser.

Not really sure. The ones on the dashboard may be added or it’s for trailer position. Likely working like that due to trim senders not working

    1986 starcraft 170hp mercruiser.

They are not hooked up because they rarely work and don’t really need to. Big pain. They go to the trim senders on the gimbal pins. Generally make them work during a bellows or gimble bearing service

    Tube with 25hp on a 14' tinny

Well the motor is just a year old now with 20 hours or so on it so it should be running perfectly at 25hp. I never got to try the tube this year

Briggs & Stratton Intek 44 cubic inch

I have learned a ton from Taryl. Sometimes his skits are a little much but he covers a lot. I had an intek blow up and I put a liquid cooler Kawasaki out of a John Deere in the tractor. It was a little overkill

One pump of lube with vent screw in

Thanks guys. I was just making sure it didn’t have water in it and that it was safe. I’m putting the entire drive system and electrical into my other big boat. My first IO boat. I’m normally an outboard guy And yeah the little pump broke in half but still worked. I wanted to clear it out before...

One pump of lube with vent screw in

I was finishing winterizing my parts boat and changed the lower unit oil. Alpha gen 1. I accidentally added one extra pump of gear lube after i installed the vent plug. I figured I’d clear out the pump without thinking. Could this have damaged seals?

    Engine bay blower question

It should not matter because the blower draws off the lowest point of the bilge. But I would still leave it closed

Interesting. The cam itself looks right. Nothings loose

    3.0L idle way too low

Yeah I know it needs a good tune up. But the engine runs quite and nice. Everything works too

    3.0L idle way too low

Oh ok. I knew final adjustment was in gear in the water. Didn’t know it was that simple.

    3.0L idle way too low

I was running my '86 donor boat on muffs today and it runs great except it idles at about 200 rpm out of gear. If I advance the throttle just a little it clears up at about 750 rpm. How is the idle screw supposed to be sitting on the idle cam for initial adjustment? because I'm pretty sure...

    Structural integrity and boating safety.

We’ll this one’s transom sounds like drywall with 24” centers. It’s one good wave away from blowing the transom seal. But yeah after thinking I’ll just monitor 16 in the situation

Carter fuel pump for OMC 3.0 L

OMC 3.0L is the same 3.0L that Mercruiser used and is a GM product. Mercruiser 3.0L will get more hits. Just make sure the one you get has correct fittings and orients the right way.. Mercruiser pumps usually point down. But 3.0l pumps can point up too

    Structural integrity and boating safety.

We’ll here is the condition that got me thinking about this. This boat was on the water this year and previous owner didn’t know it was unsafe. Lucky it’s last mission is giving an old StarCraft a new power plant. Can see they even put brand new seats in it

    Structural integrity and boating safety.

Perhaps just monitoring ch 16 will be the only thing that can be done. But they probably don’t even have a radio. With the guy who owned the boat I bought. The blessing is he ran out of gas and thought he had carburetor trouble so it never went back out

    Structural integrity and boating safety.

That is pretty much what i would expect as a response as well. My fears are with children. Luckily I haven’t seen any real rattle traps at the launch I frequent.
